I think Let It Be could've been easily bettered, both the mixes, tracklisting, and presenting without Spector's orchestrations, but ...Naked wasn't really it either.

"Across The Universe" should've been dropped completely, replaced with...probably "Teddy Boy," I guess? And "Don't Let Me Down," of course.

It's funny, for all the time they spent in the studio, how few 'releasable' recordings there really were. They ran through so many songs, but so few competently or coherently. Certainly an enjoyable two or three hours of bonus material could still be compiled from all the sessions, and I hope this happens, but it'd inevitably include a lot of repeat songs, most likely. But there's stuff like "Suzy Parker" or "Save the Last Dance For Me" that would be great on an official "Let It Be Sessions" release, but really aren't good enough to be on a proper version of the album, even reconfigured 50 years later.

I would prefer "Junk" to "Teddy Boy" personally.

Have my own version with favorite takes, lots from Nagras and lots of stuff not release. Fills out a whole 80 min CDR.

Sorry if this has been asked before but is there a thread covering the upgraded Let It Be film that
circulated on blu-ray and DVD a few years back?

Neither is a great song to me, but I have to go with what was actually performed reasonably competently during the sessions. It's a surprisingly small number of songs.

I say take the original and replace Maggie Mae with Ringo's song "Picasso"

Its got the charm of the original plus it sticks with original material and Ringo gets a vocal spot

I made my own Get Back from the A/B Nagra Reels at one point. Even recreated the original Dig A Pony arrangement. I did it from lossy files though, and didn't create a good lineage or track break down. I keep thinking "i need to redo that" but I've still not gotten around to it.

Agreed about Across the Universe and yes I too quite like Spector's mix on every song other than those 2 as well. Hold up very well.

Very cool list, I like it.

I do too, it's nice having an alternative version around. You can still have a favourite though :)

With Let it Be...Naked OOP, it is going to be interesting to see what Universal do when it inevitably gets the remix/re-boot treatment.

Just love this album and I agree with Mr. Mojo about the lead guitar in the title track, the other versions without it sound subdued.

The original Phil Spector version, he did a very good job. Winding Road is a pretty dull song, it needed the overdubs to lift it.

My ideal Let It Be would have had a different recording approach altogether: full production and polish like Abbey Road. The back-to-basics live band thing was doomed to fail from the beginning. Had they taken a little time off after the Whites or after the ugly first round of LIB sessions and tweaked the process a bit more, it could have been a masterpiece. As it stands, I like it pretty well but get annoyed and sad that it feels tense and sloppy.

I like your version. Great job. Especially getting rid of that horrible version of "Don't Bring Me Down" from Naked. That's my favorite Beatles song and that version is a travesty. Kudos to you. And I couldn't vote in the poll because I like parts of each. Edit: Never mind. I saw the part of the poll to pick from both. Voted for that.

Dammit. Of course that's what I meant. Sorry. Been pulling an all-nighter on here tonight for some stupid reason. Mistakes will be made. I definitely was not mentioning the ELO song which, in itself would have sounded terrible on Let It Be...Naked as well.
