I use this thread for inspiration all the time. Glad someone else does too! The number of artists I've been turned on to is massive, and there's insight around here that rivals a lot of music criticism; I think largely due to the fact that posters here love the music.

Between this thread and the "Jazz And Conversation" one it has increased my education on the jazz genre immensely! And, yeah, I've found a few recommendations here as well:righton:

Chet Baker Live In Sweden with Ake Johansson Trio (Dragon) CD
    with
Chet Baker (trumpet / vocal - 2 tracks), Ake Johannson (piano), Kjell Jansson (bass), Goran Levin (drums)

    Recorded 1983

This one was recorded 'live in the Gothenburg Jazz club'. There is a great sound on the disc and Chet & Trio are all in good form.

The CD edition has 3 tracks not included on original vinyl, clocking in at just over 22 minutes.

My two NP entries: Wynton Kelly's Kelly Blue and Duke's Big 4

    Both XRCDs.

Wynton's playing with Bobby Jaspar, Nat Adderly, Benny Golson, Paul Chambers & Jimmy Cobb. Duke's with Joe Pass, Ray Brown & Lou Bellson - a monster band IMO. Lou & Ray are astounding here and that's before you add Duke & Joe P. Fabulous music on both. Wynton plays with a vibe that I absolutely love and it shines through on this one.

Bought a 33.3 rpm copy of this at a Record Store Day event last fall and I was disappointed it was a very poor quality pressing. Returned it and used the credit towards an AP re-issue copy of Booker Ervin's The Song Book and it fixed me right up. Came across this 2x45 LP a few weeks back and it really has me appreciating what Sonny Rollins is all about.

Disc 1 of Getz's complete Roost Recordings box. Most of these tunes are pretty short, and he's playing with Al Haig, Tommy Potter, Roy Haynes, Joe Galloway, Walter Bolden, Jimmy Raney & Horace Silver among some others. There's a variance in the production from very start of this disc to the end, but the music is sublime, at times esoteric in feel.
