Jazz Beat meets African Beat! The Best Best Of Fela Kuti | The Black President - Fela Kuti (Barclay) 2CD 13 tracks recorded between 1972 - 1989 (according to wiki). There is a 12 page booklet included but there are no recording details. This is a terrific compilation that will appeal to anyone who likes Jazz & Funk music spiced up with strong African rhythms. The compilation was also issued in different sleeves. I prefer this one...

Prestige recordings (continued!). Prestige Profiles - Jackie McLean (Prestige) CD Previously issued as The Best Of Jackie McLean Eight selections from eight different Prestige/New Jazz albums. Strange Blues Jackie McLean & Co A Long Drink Of Blues (New Jazz) 4,5 & 6 Makin' The Changes (New Jazz) McLean's Scene (New Jazz) Alto Madness Light's Out! All selections recorded 1956-1957 CD Mastered by Joe Tarantino at Fantasy. I only have a copy of Jackie's Lights Out! (and that is an unwelcome CD-R/imitation copy) so for me this compilation covers a lot of otherwise unknown music.
Lee Konitz, Brad Mehldau, Charlie Haden & Paul Motian - Live At Birdland ECM (2009) UCCU-5754 SHM-CD All Of Jazz Series Alto Saxophone – Lee Konitz Piano – Brad Mehldau Double Bass – Charlie Haden Drums – Paul Motian
The New Tristano - Lennie Tristano (Atlantic Masters) CD Recorded New York City 1960-1962 From the sleeve notes - "Lennie Tristano is heard on this album in unaccompanied piano solos. No use is made of multi-tracking, overdubbing, or tape-speeding on any selection." One negative comment I heard about this recording was that "this album sounded like someone playing the piano over someone practising the piano." I have always liked the sound of the Classical meets Jazz aspect of it.
Lennie TRISTANO [Jazz Record Series] - Lennie Tristano (Atlantic/Rhino) CD with Lennie Tristano (piano), Lee Konitz (alto sax), Gene Ramey/Peter Ind (bass), Art Taylor/Jeff Morton (drums) 24 bit CD issued in Japan via Warner Bros 'Forever Young' series 8 page booklet included. 3 pages are printed in Japanese. A 9 Track album. The first 4 tracks were recorded in the studio, the other 5 are live. This notes in this edition indicate all tracks were recorded 1955 although I read elsewhere a few studio tracks may have been recorded 1954.
DUKE PEARSON / WAHOO / BLUE NOTE / 1964 / MUSIC MATTERS 33RPM REISSUE OF BN 84191 (I used LondonJazzCollector's photographies of the Music Matters artwork as I wouldn't know how to improve on them (or even reach their level))

Virtuoso - Joe Pass (Pablo/OJC Remasters) CD Joe Pass - Guitar. Recorded 1973. CD 24 bit remastering by Joe Tarantino. Had this on last night, then again first thing this morning. The morning session sounded extra fresh!
Tord Gustavsen Trio - The Other Side ECM (2018) ECM 2608 Piano, Electronics – Tord Gustavsen Double Bass – Sigurd Hole Drums – Jarle Vespestad
Bill Evans | Some Other Time | The Lost Session From The Black Forest with Eddie Gomez and Jack DeJohnette (Resonance) 2CD Recorded 1968. This is an astonishing release! I recently bought Bill Evans' other Resonance release Another Time (The Hilversum Concert), and thought then I had enough Bill Evans to keep me going, but I was wrong, as listening to this 2CD set for the first time proved. These two discs are just as superb, maybe even more so than Another Time, and just like that release Some Other Time is ever so well presented too in a cool cardboard triple gatefold sleeve and in stunning sound. The 40 page booklet included just adds an additional classy aspect to it all.

Great to hear it again.
