RRB You are clearly not only a musician but have some pedigree. I am new this week to SHF but allow me to thank you for your entertaining and educational Cream/solo 107 page thread. Kudos to Mr Buchanan too whom unless iam mistaken is an Aussie too.

Well said sir how indeed can you top this album? For many years i had a favorite album, at one time it was Sticky Fingers and another Electric Ladyland. I don't have a favorite anymore but still think side 4 of EL can't be beat as an album side. It is ridiculous as as great as Still Raining, Still Dreaming & House Burning Down are When you then hear Watchtower it is one of the truly (fewer than folks suggest) timeless rock intros then followed by an impassioned and part exasperated vocal of hard won experience. This is followed by a series of seamless but distinctively different solo sections arranged and executed flawlessly. The funniest part is as you catch your breath at the songs conclusion you are in shocked awe and can scarcely imagine a better rock guitar/music track and then track 4.......begins and you may just have to revise your opinion!

Yes this is probably his BEST album and the collection on "THE GENIUS OF JIMI HENDRIX" has some early recordings he did....

I cant figure out exactly what "...And the gods made love" is about!! -- Just a bunch of noise :D

  4. "...And the Gods Made Love."

...It's when the God's make love that new galaxies are created from the celestial soup of their heavenly fluids. It's no wonder then, that such a lofty title is bequeathed a soundscape that preps the ears for a literal electric Ladyland. This is, of course, the new world that Jimi wants to show us. The album is incomplete without it, because without it you have no time to prepare for the trip... :D

Maybe @Musicman1998 will do it. He has access to the original recordings from Vimeo.

If we do, let's do all 17 songs so we don't get into a Beatles UK/US debate: singles first, then album. :D

I'd be in for that (and Axis!) This thread has gone so great, it's been truly fantastic to keep the momentum up, so to speak.. But whenever you (or whomever) are able to of course. :)

Listening to this album today and had to Google "Jimi Hendrix" + "House Burning Down" + "tango". Wasn't disappointed to land here. :)

I don't usually think of "House Burning Down" as one of my favorite songs on the LP, but now I'm hearing it as a huge peak. It's so, so good -- and so unlike anything anyone else was doing at the time.

This Hendrix guy was really good, and this was only his third album?! I can't wait to hear the rest of his records!... :mudscrying:
