    Did anyone else watch this?
To spend that much time and attention to detail to make New York in 1900, and then, to cover it in a Giorgio Moroder-esque soundtrack..... blew my mind... how 'bout yours?

I loved the music, not too present and efficient, it added a nice contrast. A nice surprise, as I begin to be tired to hear orchestra music.
And maybe Moroder-esque is a little bit exaggerated :)
Anyway, I was positively impressed by this first episode.

Oh.... don't get me wrong....blew my mind.... in a GOOD WAY!
I trying to remember.... was this the same kind of music in "Contagion"?

I want to see the first episode again. Strange things tend to bother me while others can go unnoticed at the time. I was more irritated at Clive Owens overly black hair on pale skin than the soundtrack. I don't like the washed out color of the film. Almost as if it was filmed in black & white and half-assed colorized. But like I said, I need to see it again. It did get it's hooks in me.

Yup, I thought I was watching a miniseries from 1982 scored either by Moroder or Vangelis.

I've found this show to be strangely appealing though I fear it's stuck on one point that might just kill it. Racism.

Started watching this earlier this week and am through all 4 episodes now. It's very good. The guy playing Mr. Clery is outstanding. Not a guy I'd want to hang around in real life, but he's a great character. I'm also impressed with Eve Hewson playing Nurse Elkins.

"The Busy Flea" scene cracked me up.

⬆️ Pretty unique show, and I think the quasi-techno score with 1900 era visuals is very striking indeed.

But oh the gore! Too squeamish to be a doc, I guess.

But, I hope that's the direction the plot takes.... more about the 'creation of technique', than the personal lives of the characters....
I, also, can help but think about William S. Burroughs character, Dr. Benway, while watching the show.

Not sure if this is the only thread for this show, but I just got into it (it is on the Cinemax Now app and streams nicely to the AppleTV).

Stephen Soderbergh is one of my favorite directors and does not let down with this series, everything about it is first class. I love the way he can let a scene unfold with just a shot of one character reacting to what is going on, watching the wheels spin.

    Yes... this is the thread....
sadly, I guess not too many people here have gotten 'into it'.

I enjoyed the show. Loved the music! And I'm not a big fan of this type of music, don't even know what the genre's called, but I bought the soundtrack!;)

How did I miss this? Great show. I caught just in time for the new season.

I liked the anachronistic sound track. A very effective choice, blurs the past/present divide and makes you engage into the story, instead of distancing the action in the past and making you less engaged.

Kind of like the first time I saw color film of Nazis . Makes you aware of how such things shape our vision or sense of things (history/past, etc).

It's a fantastic show. First I was a little bit irritated by the music (ambient music or however it's called in a series that plays in 1900) but it really works ...

It's an incredible evolution in 'mash-up' culture!!
The 'dated' sound of synthesizers makes a show set in 1900 come alive!

Just a reminder..... if YOU have HBO, do yourself a favor, and check THIS show out!
They've been showing it in HBO, and if you have either HBO GO or On-Demand, you can see Season One!
