Read again, champ. The Colour of Spring and Spirit of Eden are 2 separate discs. It's also not necessary keep reminding of auto correct issues, which occurred 5 months ago. Do you engage in trainspotting also in your spare time?

Shock horror, I bought some stuff new instead of second hand!

    Alvvays - Antisocialites
    St Vincent - Masseduction
Jens Lekman - Life Wil See You Now
Jimi Hendrix - Rainbow Bridge (2014 EH remaster)

The top three are probably my biggest releases of the year, but in HMV they were almost invisible, with much digging required to find the solitary copies (St Vincent did at least have a healthy half-foot of copies, but no featured presence). Easy to forget that just because you and a bunch of other people on a forum like a band/artist, it doesn’t mean that they’re anything to the public.

Early takes - Alvvays is excellent and growing with each play, St Vincent very good but I have listened to it as much as it’s not one to play in front of the family, Jens Lekman excellent lyrically and staying the right side of his bossa-nova tendencies, but I kind of miss the DIY sound of his first few albums / the unifying heartbreak of I Know What Love Isn’t.

The Hendrix is replacing the only needle drop I have ever made/will ever make, done about fifteen years ago when there was seemingly no prospect of Rainbow Bridge getting a CD release. Picked up to experiment with self-made versions of First Rays from better CD sources, as I recently acquired a Polydor 813 War Heroes and already had a Reprise non-RE-1 Cry of Love.

Rounding that out to five is one used purchase, from this very forum:

Devo - New Traditionalists (‘91 JP release)

This gives me the ‘91 JPs of Devo’s first five studio albums, and is also the first time I’ve heard the album in full. Reminds me more of FOC than ONID - a bit uneven. Feels like there’s a distinction between A-List tracks like the singles and Race of Doom, in terms of both quality of material and attention lavished. ONID, on the other hand, is more consistent, it’s just a consistency a lot of people don’t like.
