Me too, And when I say I miss Dave I miss the younger Dave ,old bitter Dave not so much.
Carson had class from his first day to his very last.

 

I agree with you about Dave. Carson was a class act as you wrote.

 

Meh. I like Carson but he wasn't some saint. But enough time has gone by that people don't remember all of his incidents and accidents.

 

Carson was great, so was Leno. And I think Colbert is their successor. He is the best on late night tv. I liked Letterman as a person but he just wasn't that funny. Colbert is pretty darn good.

 

Ad revenue will be pouring in

 

Till he opens his mouth again and says something worse..
It would be funny if they fired him..

 

I hope you're right. Based purely on ratings (though I haven't seen the demo breakouts) you'd think advertisers would be lining -up to get on the show. But we're in an environment where corporations are hesitant to support anything controversial.

 

Carson and Leno both got stale and formulaic. Enough time has passed that people have forgotten how the lame Carson shows were outnumbering the good ones (and how many vacations he was taking). The shows from the 60's well through the 80's were classics, though.

 

Yeah, it was a crude. Homophobic? I'd like that explained to me.

Carson could be unbearably corny too. I don't think he was able to remain relevant as American culture evolved.

It was discussed briefly on last night's episode, but in general I hope you are correct. Old news.

 

Pretty lame reunion. Not enough time for everybody to get a chance to speak much. It should have been it's own special, not crammed into the Late Show format.
