My first jazz album. Found it in Rhino Records' legendary cutouts section. It was one of those imports with the shiny, flimsy jackets and rice paper-lined inner sleeve. I might have paid two bucks for it.

I would have liked to have posted "Spiral Dance". To me that is one of the most exciting tracks in all of music. I'm pretty sure I levitated when I heard it for the first time that day. But it does not exist on YouTube. (That this one does, along with a lot of other ECM, I expect causes Manfred Eicher much displeasure as the label hasn't allowed any of the legit streaming services to access its music.)

I think it is pretty well known that Keith Jarrett is now credited as a co-writer on Steely Dan's "Gaucho" because of its similarity to "Long as You Know You're Living Yours"...

Latest one was the eponymous debut album of Lumen Drones. Kind of like Australia's Dirty Three at times, but a bit more psychedelic at other times...

    Nils Økland: fiddles
    Per Steinar Lie: guitars
    Ørjan Haaland: drums

Before that, most likely Anouar Brahem The Astounding Eyes of Rita since I listen to it all the time, beautiful music and recording.

In my top ten releases of the past few months for sure! Ben's first for ECM as a leader.

Listening to the Old and New Dreams' self-titled while waiting for my copy of Sam Rivers' Contrasts to reach me. When it gets here, I'll listen to that.

TIMELESS was my first ECM LP way back in 1975. It remains a favorite till today .. (next to Weather Report's Tale Spinnin' (from the same month+year).
Seen both John Abercrombie (duo with Ralph Towner) AND Weather Report soon afterwards, too (weather Report was more fascinating live back then)

I like the way you put that: an education. I couldn't agree more.

Picked this up on vinyl, haven't spun it yet. Nice that the two ECM Bro releases both have a vinyl option.

You don't hear about this one very often, but it's great, and one of the label's earliest releases.

Three weeks ago, I received a little care package from a forum bud in California, including three US promos and a Robert Ludwig cut of Metheny's "American Garage".

I'm really psyched about this, as I never spotted a copy here in Europe...
