I'm with Jimbo and Grant on this one and for the same reasons. I grew up with the Grand Funk version so it's the one that I prefer...although I do like Little Eva's as well, but Grand Funk just has a certain charisma about it that isn't in the other 2 versions.

Little Eva (by a narrow margin) over the song's writer, Carole King, from her "Pearls" release. (Never heard the Kylie cover.) For me, the GFR version kind of runs rough-shod over the song, but some of that is just my own aversion to post-60's arena rock.

I'm for Kylie on the visuals and Little Eva for the ears.

Linda Thompson takes the Locomotion to a whole other place on an LP called "The Bunch" Also featuring husband Richard Thompson, Sandy Denny and others. An album of rock and roll oldies, sung by a bunch of English folkies. Carthage CGLP 4424. I don't know if it's on CD.

This is from Overnight Sensation by Ken Sharp:

Speaking of Carnegie Hall, didn't Todd Rundgren see the gig and your cover of "The Locomotion" which he later recorded with Grand Funk?

Wally: Yeah, at Carnegie Hall we played "Locomotion" and he was producing Grand Funk and I guess his wife like it, you know, "Locomotion", and they beat us to putting it out! We were kicking it around. We were into it.

I have it, but I forgot about that album. Then I guess that puts Kylie in fourth!

Yeah, duh, Little Eva. Why are we even voting on this??? Was someone other than Little Eva gonna win?
