Does anyone have any hard dates for when The Monkees premiered on MTV (Spring/Summer of 1986?), when it left MTV, and when it premiered on Nickelodeon (I know 1987 but what month?)?

Was there overlap between MTV and Nickelodeon airings at all?

    Thanks!

All I remember is that is was on a Sunday because they had some kind of "Pleasant Valley Sunday" event going on.

I'm pretty sure that they were on both Mtv and Nick at the same time; the only thing for certain is that it started in February of '86 on Mtv with a huge marathon. I remember this as we were on vacation visiting my aunt and uncle, and they taped a bunch for us on VHS to take back with us!

The Monkees premiered on MTV on February 23rd, 1986 with a marathon that ran from Saturday night into Sunday. I provided the original Monkees memorabilia from my personal collection that decorated the MTV studios with the VJ's commenting on them. Check the supplied link for additional info.

I remember when she came on the air and announced what she had done to your shirt - Still makes me wince to this day.

Nick didn't start running them until summer of 86 at the earliest and early fall at the latest. My small town had Nick, but not MTV, and the first time I saw an episode was when a local station picked up the show as part of their summer programming.

A Monkees commercial break from Nickelodeon in 1986 so it did premier on Nickelodeon sometime in 1986 and not 1987 like I thought.

It's funny how I can completely forget about a commercial, and then when I see it, the dialogue comes back to me like an old song! I totally forgot about that Bubble-Yum commercial.

Also, it seems funny how they used to show Lassie on there. I mean, I don't think they could show something like that to kids now, they'd get bored very quickly of it, not to mention that it would probably seem 'quaint' or something. I know that I used to watch it, though.

I miss the Nickelodeon announcers voice. He was like a good friend!

I used to watch Dennis The Menace and Lassie because they were airing back to back at one point and I remember thinking "Well, Lassie isn't really funny, but it is kind of exciting sometimes". Mostly it was just "pleasant filler" until the next show came on. :)

I wanna say late summer/early fall of 1986, when Nickelodeon began airing the episodes. I began taping them, during that timeframe.

I remember watching the Monkees on Nickelodeon along with Today's Special, Sharon Lois and Bram, Pinwheel, and David the Gnome. Only think I can recall from the Monkees tv show is the video for Daydream Believer.

Also, I'd be very remiss, if I didn't mention Nick Rocks!

This thread is making me want to go back to 1986 and watch MTV and Nickelodeon for a few weeks nonstop. :(

Cable TV was like the Wild West, back in the 80's. There seemed to be a variety of programming on a lot of the stations. Unfortunately, it isn't like it used to be. Along with MTV and Nickelodeon, I could also throw in TBS, USA, and WGN (just to name a few).
