Prado Pereira De Oliveira - Joao Gilberto (Warner|Brazil)

Issued as part of the WEA 'Brasil Superstar 1200' series.

A 'live' recording from a 1980 TV broadcast. It's a pleasant enough listen but now and again the sound quality varies slightly, but it's no big deal.

This disc is currently available (in EU) on CD at budget price.

  4. All great music Xabby!

I just received a CD copy of the above various artists release Love, Strings And Jobim and was delighted to find I also really enjoyed the other 10 various artists tracks that were included on it. For a long time I thought I didn't need this one because I already had the only two Jobim tracks already on the superb Jobim only compilation Composer (Warner Archives).

The Composer compilation also includes the entire A Certain Mr. Jobim plus 4 bonus tracks from the A Certain Mr Jobim sessions (all previously unreleased alternate takes), plus the entire The Wonderful World of Antonio Carlos Jobim (all album tracks in original running order).

Don´t forget this wonderful album: Tom Jobim - Inedito (The Unknown) (1987). Jobim´s 60th birthday was celebrated with this 24 tunes recorded privately in his house. It was his favourite album.

The newest from the whacky 81 year old Brazilian genius Hermeto Pascoal is spinning now and being enjoyed on headphones. Interesting big band writing and playing, sounds very European to me at least so far.

    Great sound too.

Ocean Memories - Bola Sete (Samba Moon) 2CD

All tracks recorded in 1972 at Fantasy but never released at the time.

The music on disc one of this set was first issued on LP in 1975 as Ocean on John Fahey's Takoma label.

All tracks on Disc 2 are previously unreleased.

The double CD was re-issued in a triple gatefold cardboard sleeve. CD mastering and sound is of the highest quality. The package includes 8 page booklet that contains all the low down.

This is all blissful solo acoustic guitar playing that I urge you to check out. If the sleeve doesn't grab you then the music will!

Personalidade - Baden Powell (Verve) CD

A very tasty (out of print) 14 track compilation from Brazilian guitarist Baden Powell. The CD sounds very classy and was issued by Polygram Do Brasil Ltd. in 1987.

Unfortunately, there is no information given as to were or when these fine recordings originated.
