I believe that with the tragic passing of John Entwistle, there is only one thing that can be done to ease the hearts and minds of Rock and Roll fans everywhere... I introduce to you...... The Whotles It makes perfect sense if you think about it. The Who have lost a drummer and a bassist, the remaining Beatles just happen to be the drummer and the bassist! This is too much synchronicity to be simply a coincidence. While John Lennon, Keith Moon, George Harrison, and John Entwistle are jamming on a higher plane, those of us that are left here on this rock should be able to partake of the greatest rock and roll supergroup ever created... The Whotles! I know that Paul McCartney isn't the same stylist that John Entwistle was, and let's all be honest... Ringo is no Keith Moon, but then again, Roger Daltrey is no John Lennon either. Reagardless, I urge the four remaining members of these 2 superbands to unite for the only cause that's ever really mattered... Money. No, seriously, Think of all the great music that would come of this. I am all for a hybrid Who/Beatles concert, with intermingling of the songs and the styles of these rock legends. The time has come, the time is now... The Whotles.
No disrespect to John's passing, but in a moment of melancholy last the same idea occured to me. However, wouldn't it be more appropo to call them the "Who's Left" Remembering the great band fondly, Robert Cat Conrad
I love this board. Here I'm rather down obout Entswistle, and then I read one of the funniest things I've read in quite a while... Thanks. Shalom, y'all! L. Bangs

The Whotles eh? Sounds like a great idea to me, if it was done right and the right material was chosen that would be a gig I would not want to miss. I wouldn't understimate Macca's bass playing - whilst he has a different style to John Entwistle, he'd have no problems emulating some of those great bass lines. I'd also love to hear Pete Towsend's take on some of those George Harrison riffs - Taxman, Ticket To Ride and Paperback Writer immediately spring to mind. Likewise I'd like to hear early Who songs like Substitute, I Can See For Miles and Picture Of Lily with Macca and Starr's input on those. I could imagine them doing some real stonking versions of tracks by both bands, it would be a blinding gig. Maybe they should do it as a tribute to those from both bands who've passed on. I would hedge a bet that there is a strong mutual respect between the two bands (in fact I have no doubt there is) so why not?
