I enjoyed that. While it was sad that Micky Moody decided to move on, they have recruited a very capable replacement in Northern Ireland's own Simon McBride. I am a fan of him.
Seriously, ask yourself: what is "more 'Priest?" N or Turbo? To me, there's no contest; the 2008 album rocks home hard and free. I think Curve made a point with which I identify massively, vis-à-vis 'digging' the output of 'old masters' far more than (most) newbies and 'Priest have emphatically not dropped the baton: if anything, they may have stumbled ('86-90) and then regained momentum. Accept are another great example of such sensational, later-life honing.
Turbo. Seriously. And I don't remember when I last played it either. I see your "down period" includes Painkiller. I never got the recent revisionist trend regarding that album. I think it's beyond criticism.
I find something to enjoy whatever Priests heritage. Time changes your perspective on many things...Bands back catalogue being one of them. I got into Priest in early 79'......And unsurprisingly I find the Sad Wings to British Steel my favourite run, era, whatever. Highly influential (in hindsight to many bands)..... Incredibly varied......and just amazingly iconic.
I’m not sure any band in any genre has made as good of a comeback as they have. Not including “reunions” such as Maiden. Really looking forward to their new album this year.
So I gave this a listen and you know what? I like it more than the first album which I liked quite a bit. The title track is probably the weakest thing on here; too nu-metal for me, but the rest is some great riffage and fantastic musicianship all around.
Blimey. For your info, if you're remotely bothered, I adore 'Painkiller' the track on a level fit to lock horns with their mightiest toons, generally acknowledged or otherwise, anywhere from 1974-'Halls Of Valhalla' of late. 'Turbo' (song) and 'Out In The Cold' are A-OK. The rest of both albae leave me distinctly 'meh;' I believe that is the expression. Certainly no revisionism on my part re the 1990 effort since it never flowed freely through my Metal impellors.
That production team for the upcoming ('Priest) album - so long as the 'too many cooks' thing doesn't kick in - augurs well for the sound quality. Creatively, I'd love to see a song entitled 'Foothills Of Asgard' with a tidal-scream-and-break segment to match that which continues to enthrall me from within 'Gates Of Valhalla.' RH's voice is nowadays, priceless.
Howdy fellow geologists, of the past. Just checking in from the distant future of 2017 to let you know that the future of Metal is just fine. Well, there is some semblance of old-timey civilization remaining.
The new Pallbearer is streaming... Heartless, by PALLBEARER also anyone who like that Magic Circle posted a few pages back, I have vinyl and CD in my Discogs store.
Really liking her voice. Seems she's in two bands. I like the rockin' Death Penalty more. Michelle Nocon - Encyclopaedia Metallum: The Metal Archives
^ I laugh at the picture above. Blurring out those "faceless" band members and focusing on the pretty female.
Ordinarily it would have stuck out but I barely noticed (I'm numb). Band photos are generally so awful, especially in extreme metal, that this one was a bland relief.
You'll have to ask her directly. Hmmm, her intro does state "I don't need your consent, I don't need your opinion and I surely don't need your blessing." Go for it! I'm sure you'll do just fine. https://www.facebook.com/Duskmoon?ref=br_rs
