The objective of this thread is to compile a list of CDs/hi-rez recommended by Steve on the forum. I would appreciate if you could search and post a link to Steve's original post so that everyone can see what Steve originally said. Apart from verifying what he said, doing so may also give some extra info like whether it's a flat transfer, recommended EQ and other interesting stories. If you can't remember or are too lazy to find his original post, don't worry - I'll search for you and if I find it, I'll post the link here. Just keep adding the titles you remember and I'll compile a list as we go along and post that here for easy reference.

To start it off (in alphabetical order):

    Blind Faith - S/T - MFSL
Blind Faith Self Titled: Is it just murky?

Carole King - Tapestry - Stereo & MC SACD (the stereo program is identical)
Carole King/TAPESTRY: Original mix SACD is wonderful!
Note from Steve, Tullman isn't happy with me over a recommendation. Your thoughts?

Crosby, Stills & Nash - CSN (couch) - Original 80s Barry Diament mastered CD
What's the best sounding "Crosby, Stills, and Nash" cd? *

Derek & The Dominos - Layla - MoFi & Original Polydor CD
Derek & The Dominoes "Layla" Question(s)

I don't know, Steve. It's up to you. If you want, I/the gorts can close this thread. I've been trying to include as much info as I can (out of what you said) so people can make their own decisions, but I just thought that we could learn a lot from your posts, and as of now there's no convenient way to see 'em (apart from searching, i.e. - and it can take ages to find your opinion on some of the popular stuff).

Don't want to step on any toes and absolutely no disrespect intended to you.

I understand. I just don't want to recommend something to someone that they might not like for the same reasons I do. As long as that is understood by all I am OK with this.

But if you buy the MFSL "Layla" looking for some sort of sonic nirvana, you won't find it..

    Great!

Yeah, that album is the definition of sonic mud. I read somewhere that with all the substance abuse going on at that time, nobody paid attention to the tape. Oh, and another aside (sorry, can't resist!): apparently the band heard someone else recording Big Bill Broonzy's Key To The Highway in the same studio and they just started jamming. It took Tom Dowd a couple of minutes to realize what was going on and then he hit the record button - that's the reason for the fade in. But, I digress...

I'm pretty sure this is the Stevie Wonder disc, "Love Songs," Steve recommended for the early stuff (too lazy to search - easier to post a picture). If I'm wrong remove this post please :)

(and look at that rare die cut obi)

I was just about to say that I couldn't find any of your posts.

Please folks, take the time and look up what you're posting. It helps everybody and saves Steve time and effort because he would have to keep correcting us otherwise. We also don't want quotes falsely attributed to Steve.

It's been mentioned numerous times here that Steve likes the MasterSound gold version of Pink Floyd - WYWH.
Don't know if he heard the 2-track as is seems most people here prefer it over any other version.
