Got a new face plate for my silver Technics 1200! I modified it too with KAB tonearm wires and RCA cables! Here's a URL to How To guide I made and posted here for anybody interested in doing this upgrade themselves (the wires, not the face plate): http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/technics-1200-kab-tonearm-rewire-rca-upgrade-guide.467495/
Thank you for your warm welcome. HiFi Guy 008, The first two shot, the cartridge in use is Lyra Kleos SL ( Single Layer: low output version ), in the 3rd shot, Linn Kandid and in the 4th shot, Linn Adikt moving magnet as a daily driver. I also use Ortofon SPU Royal N which has a very different flavour from most modern cartridges.
hi cat9, Plinths shown are sourced from Woodsong Audio who offer many exotic wood plinth for a Sondek. The ones shown are rare figured African (Gaboon) ebony and wenge. I still have the original afromosia plinth. It's so old it even has a kick stand hole. This was my first Sondek with the lowest spec recommended by a friend (Basik/Basik Plus/K9/Glued subchassis/no Cirkus bearing/all new tune-up parts ) The best 850$ I spent. Whilst the fluted afromosia matches my speakers (Linn Isobarik), I prefer the sound of these aftermarket plinths better.
Thank you, I traded in a very clean 3 yr. old Classic 1 with an on-line vender, I assume it will be for sale soon. Send me a p.m. if you think you might be interested and I'll give you their information. They do come up for sale on the used market occasionally, I found a new one about a year ago from a dealer that sold it for the "old" price, which was still not cheap
I would like to get the Clearaudio outer limit ring, since I have their table. I only ever saw it on the used market one time. Should have jumped on it when I had the chance.
I appreciate the offer. Unfortunately, my current budget just wouldn't allow it. It will have to wait. My SL1200 is running very well for the time being, anyway.
