I saw on Amazon there is a 1/2 speed remaster due out of the 1981 Ghost in the Machine on Feb 2, 2018. It states it is an Import on the A&M label, priced at $28.99. I didnt hear of a Police reissue campaign of any kind. Perhaps testing the waters for other catalogue reissues. Id prefer Synchronicity over Ghost but just my opinion. I see Outlandos d'Amour was reissued as well for $23.99.

Has any other album started with the clear three best songs and also singles? The other songs may be strong but the first three are killer

Not my favourites but the most commercial maybe. There are some killer tracks towards the end of the album.

I have the newer 1/2 speed of Ghost. It’s very good. My sense is I preferred it an original A&M and the 80s Nautilus 1/2 speed, but I did not do an A-B comparison. The recent 1/2 speed also came with a 16/44 download card of whatbis presumably the digital master used for the vinyl. It sounds very good as well.

I have that Nautilus version. I thought I saw a previous post on an earlier thread panning it.

Their best album, in my opinion. Just one good-to-great song after another from start to finish with plenty of experimentation. Although I still think it sucks that Sting's monster ego prevented Andy's "Omegaman" from being released as a single. It would have been a great one.

I wish Synchronicity and Zenyatta were being reissued. My copy has seen better days and a lot of used copies locally are wrecked

Geez, it’s been years and years (like 15 or 20 years) since I’ve listened to it. But my memory of it is I didn’t love it (and the Zenyatta as well).

FYI, I also have the Japan/Canada A&M 1/2 speeds of Outlandos & Reggatta. I think I may have posted maybe 5 years (or more) ago about my comparison of them to original UK pressings but I honestly don’t remember my conclusions.

The original release is superior to the Nautilus - much more lively

It was a great and evolved followup to Zenyatta Mondatta.

Both of those albums will be forever my favorite Police discs.

It came out yesterday. Has anyone heard this version?

  19. And they're always cheap. And it's not hard to find a copy in excellent condition.

As posted earlier, this is likely to be a repress.

It is frontloaded, but not because the rest is weaker.
I sense it just happened to pan out that way. Probably my favourite Police-album.

Now, Synchronicity is, like, the opposite.

+1, although I rate Regatta De Blanc evenly these days.

Interesting.... I do think it might have worked as a single right after Every Little Thing. Great, great song!!

I’m still amazed we’ve not seen Deluxe editions of The Police’s albums. It’s a no-brainer.

There were rumours elsewhere on this site that 2018 would bring reissues of all the Police material to mark the 40th anniversary of their first album. Would be great if this happens, even if it’s simply releases of the other albums to match the Ghost in the Machine half-speed remaster... which sounds brilliant.
