I saw a few young guys (late teens, early twenties) today hanging around outside a car and talking while the car stereo was playing Led Zeppelin loud. Other young people walk by, pay no mind. Nothing out of the ordinary, right? A few seconds later it hit me- the music they're playing that appears to be so naturally part of their lives is at least thirty-five years old! What if, in 1970, a group of twenty year olds were hanging on the street-corner with music from 1935 blaring from their car? It would definitely look peculiar, unless maybe it was on the street of a music collage or something. Led Zeppelin isn't my music, but I can sure recognize one thing, and that is the fact that that music, along with a lot of other heavy rock from that period, has not been equaled, let alone outdone, by anyone. It doesn't rock better than that.
