I am a latecomer to The Rolling Stones catalog. I have picked up just about all their albums, but I was wondering about this one. Is it worth including? Thanks!

A must have, definitely. A pity that there is still no bluray with uncompressed audio.

Enjoyable, especially with vid. My favorite parts are Yer Blues (especially the alternate take); No Expectations, Salt of the Earth, JJF, and what I believe is the closest the Stones ever came to replicating the studio version of Sympathy for the Devil on stage.

Never agreed with the sentiment that the Who blew other acts off the stage, perhaps because A Quick One has never been a favorite of mine.

With the glaring exception of the Dirty Mac's second piece, which Yoko Ono ruins, and the take it or leave it actual circus parts, the Circus is essential. Probably the fact that Jumping Jack Flash is my favorite Stones song has something to do with it, but their version here is flat out awesome. One of the best videos of a rock band ever. Other than the aforementioned, all the songs by the other groups are great. All of them.

    Essential.

Lol! No, I have that one. The only ones I need are the live ones offered on the Stones website and No Security. It seems that one is out of print. I am trying to get it off eBay or Amazon third party seller.

The Dirty Mac track is a must for John Lennon fans. Yer Blues with Clapton on lead, Keith Richards on bass, and Mitch Mitchell on drums. Just incredible.

Yep...No Security is OOP...try buying at Discogs Marketplace: Buy Rolling Stones* - No Security (CD) at Discogs Marketplace

The live stuff "From The Vaults" is all pretty essential too. Enjoy!

"Yer Blues" & The Who make it a must-have!
I remember finding the Stones segment to be a little flat (at least in comparison to the above); probably worth re-investigating, though.

The Stones performance is great despite what they thought about it at the time.

The DVD is also worth getting for the fantastic footage of Taj Mahal with Jesse Ed Davis on guitar.

Every time I see that clip of the Dirty Mac I can't help but mutter "My God, I wish they had cut an album..."

I prefer the DVD over the CD but yes, it's essential.

It's worth it for The Who alone. The Stones we're OK. I don't think they were bad enough to shelve it for so long, but they weren't on top of their game either. Bonus is seeing Iommi in Jethro Tull.

Get the dvd! Just watching Brian Jones play the slide on No Expectations, in his final stage appearance with the Stones, make it historically
essential! Plus for all the reasons posted above.

Rushed out to buy it. Watched it twice.
Get The Kids Are Alright for the Who's segment.
The rest of it is watchable. Circus- not so much.

The Who performance is the high point, but it's also available on The Kids Are Alright.

As an album, it's an interesting historical footnote, but not essential. The dangling carrot (for me) is the potential of a live performance of "Salt Of The Earth," which ends up just being the studio track with live vocals.

  25. It is and it is essential. Even with Brian mixed out. If you ever find the original BBC edit done in the 60's, it's fantastic. Of course The Stones haven't and won't release it
