The Saint (original B&W episodes)- R2 Box 1 Surround mix....

I discovered last night that starting with episode 3 (disc 2) that surround mixes are used. It seems that the music, diologue, and foley were perserved on separate tracks! It was very weird. The first 2 episodes on disc 1 were mono (as expected). I usually leave the L/R off when playing old TV shows (no need to fire up the tubes, etc.). I started epsiode 3 and I could hear the incidental music in the rear speakers and there was no diologue. I fired up my entire system and bingo, the diologue and some foley was placed in the L/R. It sounded a bit strange but I could live with it. I do wish they provided a good mono mix as an option. Anyway, I had no idea that this was the format.....
