    >>>>AND not just on headphones. That Ys Remix of NM is absolutely FANTASTIC. So much better than the original mix!! The vocals are breathtaking.

This is a good example of why the Beatles should be remixed. This is the way the song SHOULD have sounded all these years.

How about A Day In The Life, with John's vocal moving slowly across the stereo landscape during the course of the song; starting in the right channel, and ending up in the left channel at the end of the song.

That YS Nowhere Man mix sounds to me like an early Beach Boys double tracked Stereo mix...Gorgeous!

Ed Bishop Incredibly, I'm still here

That's the Lp mix. Someone remixed it to a more honest replication of the 45 version. Turned up on a VINTAGE MUSIC volume and a Time-Life comp, I believe. And as the hits volume was also a Quad release back in the early '70s, multitracks are probably still around, so a 5.1 edition would be a lot of fun.

I'm not sure if it's actually my definitive answer, but I've always liked Ozzy's vocal in Black Sabbath's "Wall of Sleep" quickly alternating between the speakers.

Another thing I've always loved, and it happens a lot in older heavy metal, is when a song will come to the bridge and a lone guitar will iron out the first few bars in one channel before being joined by the other instruments simultaneously in the other channel.

"Stupidly Happy", from XTC's Apple Venus Vol. 2, sounds marvelous on headphones, starting with just a guitar and drums in the center, then "building" the song one instrument at a time, until by the very end the music is filling every corner of the soundstage. A beautifully produced bit of studio pop heaven.

Most of XTC's stuff sounds great on headphones, actually.

Agreed! Apple Venus Vol. 2 is an excellent album. I may actually listen to Vol. 1 more often because of "River Of Orchids", "I Like That" (one of the greatest McCartney tunes never!) and "Your Dictionary" but "Wasp Star" is chock full of great electric XTC confections.

My choice would have to go to Billy Thorpe's Children Of The Sun. The wide sweeping image it presents when the UFO's are landing and taking off is exceptional IMHO.

Wow you guys are great, all excellent and right on the nose with the songs you've mentioned, Micalael, "Don't Worry Baby" The Beach Boy's just totally AWESOME song to begin with that's one that I would have mentioned in the thread of getting Goose-bumps when hearing. The hook of the chorus in that song just reaches right into my entire being. It's like if I had never heard that song and I was driving my car and it came on the radio I'd have to find a place to pull over to just to let the song flow through my being. But then there's The Beatles and if anyone has read my review of The Beatles One + Two 24 kt CD set that I just got you are right about Strawberry Fields and Nowhere Man are tip-pity TOP!

I'm gonna add Led Zep's Whole Lotta Love - put some cans on yer head and have an acid trip without ingesting a thing! Whooo, that guitar sliding back and forth is a corker...
