I have just gotten a used copy of the Repertoire "20 Greatest Hits" CD and it is great music and an excellent sounding CD.

Discovered them last year and must confess that

    Shocking Blue At Home
    Scorpio's Dance
    Third Album

are surprisingly good. Nice packaging too with the gatefold and stuff. Plus: The cover of "At Home" is hilarious, I just wish they would have mixed a syringe, a spoon and a few pills into the collection of stuff scattered on the floor.

Have to say that I really don't like 'em. Plus they are totally overplayed on the radio. There are like 4 or 5 Shocking Blue tracks that are unescapable and I just can't take 'em them anymore. Ironically the girl from fellow 70's dutch band Earth and Fire Jerney Kaagman had a very similair voice to Mariska Veres yet I like her so much more!

They have so many classics (I own every song, I think), but this is the best one. :righton:

"Send Me A Postcard" is a killer garage fuzz track!

I love "Long and Lonesome Road."

They were a great band that should've been remembered for more than 1 song.

And they really could play, which can be heard on their vinyl only live-Album and also be seen on a very good DVD by Dutch label BR-Music.
But sadly a band without any happy end, I recently found a magazine report saying, that the two surviving members do not even want to talk about their band anymore....

I recall reading somewhere that Mariska only joined the band on the condition that none of the guys would ever 'try it on' with her.

"Poor Boy" ought to be 4:50. Is there a CD with the full outro?

Ah, thanks. Too bad it's not on the correct album, but at least it's findable.

They managed another hit in the UK after Venus, called Mighty Joe. It was Shocking You though that to me should have been a major hit for them. Great song.

Their version of Venus is excellent but it's Bananarama's that's the one for me. Such a great cover that tops the original, which is very rare. No doubt Robert Van Leeuwen got to retire thanks the ladies.

Venus was one of the first records I bought (7") and to this day I find it's as good as perfect 3mins as one can find. The band never got much more airplay here (at least that I didn't hear), which surprised me because the single was so strong. Well, maybe not surprising given the sad state of affairs radio was where I lived. I still felt they deserved more, and still haven't got to hear any more of the band.
