He ran this into the ground so thoroughly and pathetically I have no interest in seeing these characters ever again, especially Van Dyke. The only plus for me at the end was the actress who played the daughter, who became quite an attractive woman.

Although the original show never really appealed to me. It seemed as though it had potential to be so much better than it was. Perhaps the new show could have better writing and character development... or not!

This news came out of left field. What's next? More 'Thirtysomething'? 'Fiftysomething'?

I would agree this seems to be one of those “who was asking for this?” situations, and I don’t mean just as a way to knock the original show. Regardless of whether one loves or hates the show, I haven’t heard of any cult following for this show clamoring for more seasons. I’m sure fans of the original would like to see all the seasons on DVD. But new episodes? I guess a “next generation” thing is now trendy with that “Girl Meets World” thing now out there (don’t know how popular that one is; but there also seems to be a younger, “generation x” sort of demographic that was fond of “Boy Meets World” in the first place, whereas “Coach” presumably had an older viewership even back in the 90s).

Is this all just because Nelson has been on another hit show?

I remember watching “Coach” and enjoying it in the early seasons when he was coaching at the university. But it seemed to “jump the shark” when, like many sitcoms, the leads all had to become more and more successful and get more and more breaks and face increasingly asinine “problems” in each episode.

Curious if they’ll being Patrick from Spongebob back, and I have no idea what kind of shape Jerry Van Dyke is in these days.

Since we are bringing back every 1990's TV show where is my continuation of Brisco County Jr.?

It won't happen, because that would actually be a good idea.

IIRC, Nelson turned down the Jay Pritchett role in Modern Family which ended up going to Ed O'Neill. If he hadn't, then we wouldn't be talking about this unnecessary revival.

not without Rob M. I don't remember a show that collapsed so fast, so completely, after a star left.

Yes...you seen him recently? The newest thing on him is his eyebrows and walking cane.

Poor chap, still a fan though.

It's not like he was unemployed, he just wrapped up 6 seasons of Parenthood.

Basically, Burt could only bring back himself and Marilu as I think all the other principals from the cast have passed away.
