a bummer too, because the show worked great for a while. his last episode is still one of my favorite hours of tv.

Yeah, I know, but my point was if he were on Modern Family no one would be oddly dreaming up more Coach. FWIW, I'm glad he did what he did, as I can't picture Nelson being a better Jay than Ed O'Neill.

As long as the networks are in retro mode, I'd go for a double bill bring-back of 'Coach' and 'White Shadow'.

Well, between the X-Files, Twin Peaks, Boy Meets World and now Coach, television is quickly following the lead of the movie industry. Why create something new when a remake or sequel will suffice?

I wonder if this is more indicative of general malaise in the industry or the public's infatuation with pop culture nostalgia.

I thought it was odd that VH1 Classic was showing a "Coach" marathon last weekend.

Sad that he did that, especially how his character on Parenthood ended up.

Died in the last five minutes of the series finale? It's not like he was axed from the show in season two or something.

Or that there are more channels than there are shows to fill them with...

I didn't watch COACH, but I thought it was nice that Jerry Van Dyke was finally in a hit show after 30 years.

I think Craig T. Nelson just needs a job, either that or someone at NBC has fond memories of the show and wants to re-boot it.

That chemistry can't be duplicated. That cast + the writing...pure gold.

I have thought that Max Gail and Linda Lavin could do a show based upon their characters from Barney Miller. Call it Wogo's Place. Let's say Wogo and Wentworth got married shortly after the end of Barney Miller. It is now 30 years later. They retired as police officers and now own a restaurant called Wogo's Place. They run it with their two adult children. Hal Linden(Barney) and Abe Vigoda(Fish) could come back and be semi-regulars at the restaurant. They should really do that. I thought that Max Gail and Linda Lavin had real chemistry on the original show. I would love to see it. P.S. Linda Lavin would get a case of deja vu working in restaurant like she did in Alice.
