Yeah it was originally on a RT promo cassette that was sent to various media people in the early days, so was never on any official release until that single. They were properly scraping the barrel at that point for exclusive material that Morrissey/Marr had already signed off on

Interesting. At the time of writing, it appears to have been knocked down to $77 on Amazon.com.

Mine arrived today, haven't spun yet but the packaging and the vinyl look superb.
The lack of original artwork might upset some people but I have plenty of copies of the original artwork, nice to see some alternatives. The Kerouac cover on the live album is particularly striking.

I listened to the box set. No quality issues - the vinyl was clean and flat, and packaging, while minimal, doesn't look cheap to me. The sound is what I expected - I greatly prefer the sound of my old Japanese Rough Trade CD. It reminded me why I don't get rid of my CD's. I will keep the box for the extra material.

I need to pull this set out again, especially the live cd.

I think the new remaster sounds really good on my HomePod. Likely a different story on a full range hi Fi.

Yes, many variables come into play, especially with vinyl.

Yes, to me the live CD was the unexpected treat of the set - IMHO better performance and more pleasant mastering than "Rank."

Don't see the point in these tripled up thingummies. Any true Smiths fan will have all the b-sides and remasters and suchlike and as someone said upstream the only super deluxe thing here is the price.

The live CD partially makes up for it, seeing as how Rank was so aptly named.

Indeed - it's replaced Rank in my rotation, so for me the QID reissue was basically a 2fer.

Any true Smiths fan would want the demos, which were never previously released. There are only 4 B-Sides on the entire set. Together with the remastered album and live album, I think it's a great package.

Plus a lot of American fans couldn't get those B-Sides easily back in the day.

I agree - a good number of the demos are surprisingly (to me) interesting and worthy of repeated listening.

For me, the 3CD/DVD set was more than worth the $25-30 I paid. The 96/24 album on the DVD is worth at least half the cost, and the live CD is nice (even though it's sadly edited). The LP box isn't worth its price, but I love that CD set.

Couldn't agree more - well put. I remain very happy with the 3CD/DVD set for that reason.

Out of curiosity which Japanese Rough Trade Cd do you have (e.g. Japan for UK, Japan for Japan, etc.)?
