I'm not sure. Luck is all it takes. Took me a year to find a sealed copy back in 2003 (after Indy and Steve raved about it ).

 

I even started a thread back in 2003 that went for all of 5 posts.

I bought that lp and the Johnny Burnette/Rock and Roll Trio album for about $4 each when they came out.

 

Not at the moment Steve, but I'm working on it.

Took me about 20 minutes, a total fluke. Wasn't expecting to find anything. Found a Buy it now copy of the LP on eBay for $20. U.S. from Solid Viper Records. And I did!

The link I posted above is from a pretty scratchy sounding 45 of Boppin' Rock Boogie. As for me buying the only copy, I also saw both of them in the New Albany, Indiana public library around 1986...

Christmas 1965 in Oahu, Hawaii <Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station, base housing>, no prize for guessing my fave present! It's a screen grab from a dvd dub of my Dad's old super 8 <I think> home movies made at the time.

Oh my. I never knew that. Oh well, I was 10 instead of 11 years old. Thanks <I think!> for pointing that out, Steve! I know that it had just come out, didn't think it was in 1964... hmmm...ya got me!

 

I emailed a link to this thread to Joe Bennett - he was kind enough to respond. Joe was appreciative of Steve's putting out that Sparkletones lp, and he was pleased to see his old band get some chat time online.

 

The're totally on fire!!!!!

 

Sounds like an Acoustic Sounds project - get Mr. Bennett in that studio in Kansas to play some real rockabilly.
