I like the Three Stooges, but I know they're not for everybody. I'd like people to give their reasons why/why not.

As much as I've always liked them, I have found that in recent years I have to take them in small doses.... only one short film at a time, not marathons. Their pattern gets tired quickly otherwise.

EDITED: (I meant for this to be a poll, but somehow I screwed that up)... :sigh:

They are less appealing to me than most classic comedians. They make me wince more than laugh. And their shtick is real repetitive.

The Stooges were a sitcom before the term existed. The boys do this, the boys do that, and how do they screw it up? Outside that its lowbrow slapstick and pratfalls. The basic act is broad vaudeville.
I love it and have pretty much everything they ever did.

Don't really like them. Too silly, I guess.

I love them! It's not so much what they do, but what they say that is funny. A lot smarter than people give them credit for.

Love them, my favorites among the comedy teams. Just real life cartoons and the ones who started my love of classic comedians. I can still remember the first time I saw them, when I was 9 years old and my dad called me in to watch these guys on TV on Saturday afternoon. I was hooked from that moment on, that was in January 1989. Within the next year I was a member of the Three Stooges Fan Club which I have been a card carrying member ever since.

Like. They were pioneers at what they did. It was great stuff to watch when I was a kid. It's a different kind of humor and certainly from a different era, but I'd rather watch a Stooge short than a lot of what is passed off as comedy these days. Good man cave fodder.

Love them, they're just silly fun. Curly was definitely a genius, he put a subelty in his comedy that made him one of the most lovable of the classic movie clowns. The same with Shemp who deserves more recognition. Shemp was the original third Stooge before he left and he had a successful solo career before rejoining the Stooges. I once stage managed a theatrical comedy that delved into classic comedia del art, and I noticed in the production that with all the emphasis on slapstick and silliness that this was where the Stooges brand of comedy originated, they were upholding a tradition of classic comedy.

  18. Not. I don't hate them or anything, but I always thought their brand of slapschtick was kind of dumb. I was more into Laurel & Hardy and Abbott & Costello as a kid.

I have always enjoyed them. As much I enjoyed their slap stick humor I also liked seeing into the past while watching their episodes. Seeing the old cars, old homes and clothing styles is enjoyable for me.

I have watched the 3 Stooges with my grand parents, parents and now with my children. My children really enjoy them.

There was just a release of several feature films on blu. Vol 1 includes a couple of movie appearances with Curly plus Have Rocket, Will Travel. The 2nd volume has 3 films from the Curly Joe era. Unless any public domain label has released any as of now no Columbia short subjects have been released on blu.

I watched them every afternoon after school on WSBK Channel 38, Boston. I own volumes 1-6 of the DVD releases which covers 1934-1951. Just enough of Shemp and all the Curly.
