The intro to 'I Can't Control Myself' - always a classic!

Oh no! :D Brilliant song! Saw them in the nineties (as well as in the sixties) in a 60's show with the Tremeloes etc. When Reg screamed out the intro, the place erupted.

One of those bands where a good compilation of their highpoints is pretty much all I really need.

Having said that I own a good best of and the album that they did with R.E.M., Athens Andover.

    I always enjoy playing either.

I've got the Repertoire CD's Trogglodynamite, Cellophane and Hip Hip Hooray. All contain heaps of bonus tracks, including some of the more interesting singles well into the 1970's, e.g. Strange Movies and Lover / Come Now. Some real heavy stuff there... Enjoyable pop... Night of the Long Grass is probably my favorite, but there's more ominous stuff in there like Cousin Jane and out-and-out power pop too, A Girl Like You and so on... A really good group. Don't think their potential was milked enough, I know Wild Thing was no. 1 in mid-1966 but yet they didn't land in the States until what, spring '68 or whatever? Total shame.

Is this the place to get sprinkled with fairy dust?

Yeah I dig The Troggs. Even something as superficially clumsy as "Love Is All Around" has an irresistible charm for me.

Their debut album Wild Thing is a proto-grunge classic.

Liked them enough to buy The Troggs Archeology years ago. Good stuff.

Time to dust it off and have another listen...

I always had LPs and comps that focusesed on the early, mid-'60s tracks -- which are great -- but it wasn't until I bought that "Archaeology" box set in the '90s that made me realize just how strongly this band delivered right into the '70s.

I've enjoyed the Troggs for many years. They did much excellent work that wasn't heard by enough people.

I'd love to see the Troggs get a set from Bear Family like the recent Herman's Hermits release except it should be bigger and cover their entire career. You never know what might be released these days.

Very underrated band. I have several comps, covering both their 60's and 70's work. I also have a 'Live at Max's Kansas City' CD.

I'm always on the look out for more of their catalog, but they do't turn up very often in the used bins.

Lucky me, I have Wild Thing on the Fontana label in MONO. Paid $7 back in 1985.
Just bought a 3 cd set of the TROGGS singles A's & B's - Excellent

Any particular type of fairy dust?
    Wild Thing:
Billboard #1: 7/30/66, combining the sales of the Fontana and Atco singles.

I like most of their '60s singles. I'm not too crazy about Wild Thing, because there's not much to it and it's mostly for show, which means it's overrated. But I don't hate it either.

This is one band I just can't abide. Memories of Reg Presley's head going backwards and forwards on TOTP, ugh. Still good luck to them. Even Jimi liked Wild Thing.
