I recommend this police drama, very interesting in view of current events.

The Tunnel is the undersea link between Britain and France. A French and a British cop must cooperate.

Presentation marred by editing of language and visuals by PBS for sensitive North Americans :(

Seems a lot like "The Bridge".

I'm going to pass on this.

Apparently it is an adaptation of Scandanavian-setting story.

You shouldn't it's very, very good. Clémence Poésy who plays Elise, the French detective that exhibits Asperger's type symptoms is just fantastic. Her character has a natural camaraderie with Stephen Dillane's Karl, an English detective, as they team up to solve cross-border cases. It's really well done, with season two recently completed.

We're seeing it on Detroit PBS, but the transmission quality is atrocious. I'll have to think about getting the disks.

Still gripping, but I wonder if I'm getting tired of super-powered villains who pull so many strings and engineer completely improbable dramas.

Seems so. It's like a Russian doll, with yet another layer of scheming under the last one. It seems TT just wants revenge on one cop.

There may be elements of Bond style villainy in the plot, but the best part of the series is the friendship and interplay between Elise and Karl as collaborators from opposite ends of the channel. They're the glue which makes the show work so well.

So if I've seen and enjoyed the original Broen/Bron series, is there any reason to watch The Tunnel? Sounds like another adaptation like the American The Bridge.

    Also, what's next - The Overpass? ;)

Did they do a second series? I thought the second series of The Bridge was superb and surpassed the original. Not sure about the third, mind you, though I' in for a fourth if there is one.

That was it. And got it.

Series made me think a bit of 7, or 24, the incredibly powerful and competent villain. Doubt if I would watch another season.

Forgot to mention - how much TT looked like Lou Reed!

We watched the first season on Amazon Prime just as Season Two was about to air on PBS.

Seeing how much would likely get censored on PBS, I bought the BluRay of S2 and we just finished it tonight.

Quite a gripping series, though the quick and slang dialog, not to mention accents, requires the English subtitles for better understanding.

    I've never encountered THE BRIDGE.

This is a really good series. Just finished the third and last season. A prequel would be awesome.

I've seen that the third season is finally available on Amazon. We'll have to give this a whirl soon.
