I rather like these. Anyone know the make? It looks like my dream speaker to hear Saint-Saens' Organ symphony.

Any reason they needed to put a hijab on it?

For me, that weird little veil is the detail that makes the thing a masterpiece in ugliness.
(That and the little statuette in the background that you could almost imagine being a part of the speaker !)

I'm not a fan of the looks of the bigger Wilson's but they build them that way for a very good reason.

Dim the lights, close your eyes and enjoy.

I just brought these home and I was told in no uncertain terms they are the ugliest speakers of all time.

  9. Boomy? IRS?

They were set up wrong in a bad room, then.

Superb Bass when I heard them. Beautiful too IMO.

I can't even tell what we're looking at, apart from it having a Klipsch badge.

Did the person who told you they are the ugliest speakers of all time pick out that carpet?

She made me buy the house that carpet is in. Those are cornwalls with vertical horns from 1971.

Which side is up? I've seen old Cornwalls before, but never any like that.

they are sitting in the right direction in the photo. The horns are under the fabric on the top of the speaker. From What Bob Crites had to tell me was those were generally ordered as a center channel speaker so a matched pair is fairly uncommon. They were likely sold unfinished and whoever ordered them added the fabric and the veneer. They guy I bought them from said he got them from an estate sale and they were hooked up to a Hammond organ.

Nah. They are beautiful. But then again I've been looking for a pair in this finish for years....

I think that looks pretty awesome. Is that a printed veneer or did someone paint it?

    Rambling Rose!

The trade name for that veneer was Leriex, it came from a veneer company in N. Carolina. I used to have some samples.

They would saw a log into thin flat sheets, dye them separate colors, then glue it back together and shave the log radially to create the artificially figured veneer.

These get MY vote for needlessly ugly industrial design.

That has to be it. Klipsch called the unfinished models "utility cabinets".

A buddy of mine owned these. I always thought the tweeter looked unfinished. He replaced them with Vandersteen Quattros.

That's it. I've come across two pairs in the last 6 years and a guy that posts on the Klipsch forum is the owner of those. They're amazing looking. Look like they fell out of a Pink Floyd or Dead gatefold. Alas only one of the two pairs I came across were for sale and the guy wanted and got well over 3 times what I paid for my Walnut CW 1s.

Not sure I would call these "ugly" - but they sure are different. From Volya GmbH.
