in the final season we need a back story on how the virus started.... since everyone is infected and there is no cure we need to know why...

That would be the final jump-the-shark moment.

Since both the comic book writers and the tv show creators have already said this will never happen, it would be a huge sell-out to reverse themselves.

Speaking of "final season", I still wonder what the end game is here. The ratings are obviously starting to drop, so the show can't go on forever like the comic book. Actors are going to want out eventually, too.

I wouldn't mind them going back on that "promise" if it meant the show would get better.

They've already sold out in every conceivable way and jerked the audience around, so I wouldn't mind whatever it takes to make the show better.

The comics haven't ended yet, so if the show intends to end by actually wrapping up loose ends with a satisfying series ending, they'll have to strike out on their own.

I like the show so for me, as long as the stories are good, I don't mind them going on forever. People assume that there should be a set number but look at soaps that go on for years, or a show like Doctor Who that's been going (on and off) for 50 years. It's easier for them as they can go anywhere (in space and time).

I was reading about the time leap in the comics. That sounds like a cool idea they could do in a while that would almost be like a reboot.

A sell out to whom besides nerds like us? Regular TV viewers don't read comic books nor do they take something a writer says in an interview as gospel.

I could go for that if they'd use the leap to get rid of most of the current characters. One benefit of Doctor Who is that if you don't like the current Doctor or companion(s), they'll all be gone eventually.

Curious how far the actual timeline has been since Season 1 - Episode 1.

I figure 2 years maybe in actual time. Does that sound right?

    I thought about 4.

Judith is the key I guess to working it out.

whatever the reason(s) may be I for one am sick of Rick and co. They need an all new storyline to follow.

I'm sure AMC's reasoning that most or all TV show are seeing a decline is part of the reason "Dead" is seeing lower ratings.

But that article does avoid the theory that the "Negan" storyline on the show was *highly* anticipated and, all else being equal, should have given the show a *boost* in the ratings. So, if "Dead" was seeing ratings fall at roughly the same rate as other shows, then they should have (arguably of course) seen at least a lower drop than other shows due to the Negan storyline being so anticipated.

I think the botched, audience-yanking ending to Season 6, as well as the "Glenn's not dead" debacle from earlier in Season 6, along with a pretty poor execution of the whole Negan saga so far, as well as the penchant in the last few seasons of stretching thing out way too slowly both to prolong the show in general and to not so quickly surpass the comic book's storyline (the 16 episodes of Season 7 should have been condensed to maybe 8 at the most) is also part of why the show is seeing lower ratings.

See, that was easy. Really, that is all they had to do. Agree 100%

Are we following Fear the Walking Dead this year or has everybody given up?

Apparently there was a surprise death in the season opener, but I can't muster the enthusiasm to find out who and how.
