The Baby Driver is late, so Mr Speed is unable to meet you in the Ladies Room

DQ: Have you seen any songs on this album played live?

R1: Love Em and Leave Em
R1: See You In Your Dreams
    R2: Ladies Room
    R2: Baby Driver
    R2: Mr Speed

Yikes, this is super tough now!

Making Love may be repetitive, but it’s got a killer riff and punk-ass guitar solo. Can’t vote that one off or any of the other straight ahead rock songs.

Had to say bye bye to Hard Luck Woman..,.

Makin' Love. I've seen them do Dr Love but I think that's about it.

Dr love. Gene grates my nerves these days.

I remember wondering if ace played the solo on "makin love". I know he was often AWOL at the time. It sounded like a good imitation but was maybe a little too "fleet of finger" so to speak. But listening again I think he likely did play it.

Is anybody aware of any outside contributions to the record?

I know Sean Delaney co wrote Mr Speed and Take Me, but all the playing is the original four

I'm kicking Hard Luck Woman to the curb, sorry babe. If not for a first HELLO we'd never have to say goodbye.

Yes, playing is all KISS. Kramer loved Ace and had a knack for really getting him to bring his A game.

Shame, I liked Mr Speed, one of my faves. I voted for Calling Dr Love, a pretty diabolical Gene song. I rank this LP a long way after Alive!, Destroyer, Kiss, Alive II.

I saw them on the Asylum tour and twice on the reunion tours but am not sure how many songs from RARO they played.

    Makin Love

DQ: only ever seen KISS on TV live. By the time I had the urge to see them, the original lineup was long gone and I didn't care much for what came after. Reunion Tours? No thanks.

Hard Luck Woman suxs....weak attempt at another Beth, plus I cannot stand a damn ballad from a Rock Band

If "Makin' Love gets voted out, I'm out....this song kicks ass

Wait, I'm out anyway...the best song is gone already...."Mr. Speed" dummies

Take Me. Great song, love Peter's hi hat work on it, the band is great overall, but something has to do.

    Never seen KISS live

Hard Luck Woman. "You ain't a hard luck woman...you'll be a hard luck woman bae till you find your man" :biglaugh: GENIUS!

How the heck is this still alive instead of Ladies Room? And could any of you who voted off Ladies Room please explain why you think it's a bad song, specifically why it's worse than Hard Luck Woman? Best response wins a prize!

DQ: saw them in 1983 and 1988, pretty sure they didn't play anything from RARO at either show...not even Hard Luck Woman :pleased:

Now I finally understand why this is so difficult. RARO is the most CONSISTENT Kiss album there is. That doesn’t necessarily make it the best album, but there is not a lot of filler.

Having said that, though, there also isn’t one or two stand out cuts that tower over the rest, which is true for other Kiss albums. So, when I listen to RARO, I find myself playing the whole album straight through, as opposed to skipping tracks here and there.

It’s almost like you can make a “Best Of” Kiss cd set, but you’d still NEED to own Rock and Roll Over!

It pretty sums up this album for me. That is why I had trouble with picking songs off this album.

However, it has one of Ace's better guitar solos in Calling Dr. Love. Perhaps that could be discussed in a new thread in the future, "Ace's best guitar solos"
