The Weakest Link: Metallica, RIDE THE LIGHTNING (Round Four)

DQ: When was the last time you played this, and have your thoughts changed?

 

FWTBT for me. Great song but the other two are, in my opinion more engaging to listen to, I also find them a little bit more creative and complex.

Tough choice though.

DQ - I listen to RTL at least once a month. So, last time I listened would have been late December 2017. No different feelings. I get excited for Bells, I get emotional for FTB, and I get amped as hell for Creeping Death. Played live? I prefer Creeping Death, but the way they've been doing FTB since at least the 2009 Nemes show, it's pretty frickin' awesome with the extra little James parts thrown in.

 

Bell Tolls

?: I played it within the past two weeks. I have a Metallica MP3 disc for the car that gets a regular workout. It's great to get the blood pumping first thing in the morning. I've always loved "Ride The Lightning", but I have never loved it more than "Master of Puppets".

 

“Fade To Black” again. I have a sinking suspicion, however, it will win this (or FWTBT). Ugh.

I haven’t listened to the whole album in a while but “Creeping Death” is, perhaps, my favorite Metallica song so I listen to it a lot.

 

In fairness, FTB has been getting more votes than Creeping or FWTBT

But all three are great.

 

FWTBT as the last minute or so is just wasted time.

Metallica come out about once a year for a couple of weeks. I imagine this thread will flick the switch.

 

Creeping Death

Last time I played RtL was last year when the box set came out.

 

Fade, reluctantly.

I listen to this album more than other Metallica, and listened again just the other night. My assessment has not really changed over the years-it’s their best overall album.
