that's a nice sounding space. do you normally bring bands in for you and your friends/family or is it a larger group than that?

Friends, fans of the artists, and whoever else will show up. We had about 20 people here last week; I could probably pack in another 10-15. Mostly people I know, but there's usually at least a few people I haven't met before.

Sorry if I missed this in an earlier post. Is the 2014 Face Dances (and SHM which we understand to be the same) a remix or original mix?? I grabbed this off Itunes and it sounds dull compared to my CD with the remix (1997?.) Just my opinion (or maybe it's the earwax :))

Original mix, with "value added" clicks in places.

    Yes....so I have heard :)

To my ears...the remix sounds better - not sure if this is the consensus or majority opinion, but it sounds like the drums are crisper or mixed up a bit louder. I should also mention the remix was the first time I ever heard Face Dances so maybe that is part of the equation as well.

I'm not sure which I like better, the HD download or the MFSL album.

very cool. do you pay the band out of pocket or do the folks who attend pay a cover?

    Usually a tip jar/suggested donation. $10-$20.

I have the "Who Sell Out" SHM-SACD.

Are the Stereo & Mono versions on HDtracks worth getting purely based on sound?

  15. I've gotten so used to the "Cry If You Want" remix, the original sounded odd to me.

Can anyone do a summery of the HDtrakcs releases?

Especially compared to the recent SHM-SACD's

I just realised that the bonus material on the HDtracks Mono Version of Sell Out is incomplete compared to the 2009 Deluxe release.

Guess I should just buy ever Who release ever and get it over with.

Finally downloaded We Close Tonight and it just seems to me to work a little better as a performance and a song in this different mix for hi rez. I wonder how many Who recordings I might like a little more too without piano or keyboards. Don't miss the piano in this mix. I like how the drums, electric guitar, and bass guitar mesh with the vocals better than the previously mixed version.

No, no piano. None that I can hear. It seems like a fairly hard hitting mix to me. Lean arrangement but it still kind of thumps and crashes along at an edgy and steady clip. For some reason, I keep thinking of some giddy old school Cheap Trick when I hear it :).
