‘After the Fire’ was a staple on MTV for a while, but that’s another current thread. Kind of wish Pete had put that on ‘Cowboys’ or even a Roger-sung version on ‘It’s Hard.’ It’s a great song and would have made both albums more commercial.

It wasn't written yet for either of those albums. Pete wrote it specifically for/about "Live Aid" (1985), not that they performed it there ... and you can see in the lyrics how it strayed from the original subject matter (the "fire" being the famine).

I’m guessing the Dom Deluise line was added later, then, unless it was originally criticizing him for eating an outsized share of the food supply...

There's really not a lot left from the original inspiration (certainly "the cry of a hungry child" is, but Pete doesn't even sing that line in his version).

He explains it, sort of, here:

Is this entirely The Who Band minus Pete and Zac? What other differences are there, if any? (And thanks for the clips, everyone.)

    minus Pino, too...

(still; Quadrophenia Live from 2013 (and the last part of the that tour) is Roger's band feat Pete and Pino)

Yeah, the set list looks pretty good. Nice mix of Who songs that lots of folks will want to hear, Who songs that aren't as well known but that are maybe favorites of Roger, and a handful of solo album tracks.

Good setlist if you love later Who but yikes-- It shortchanges the pre-Tommy era even more than the band does.

I can't claim it - Roger named the tour.

Arguably, Roger didn't really come into his own and find his voice and persona until Tommy. The early stuff is great but a different thing.

In the ‘Athena’ clip, I would even swear Simon is playing one of Pete’s actual guitars. I wonder if Pete was like ‘I’m done, but Simon can use my guitars if he wants.’

I was thinking of posting the same comment. Same person who couldn't play all of Tommy. Same person who only plays I'm One and Drowned all the time.......

That's a Gibson J-200 Acoustic. Roger and Simon have played one on stage in past years. But yes, Pete does play that model too.

Pino is no longer in the Who Band, replaced by the FAR superior Jon Button, seen here and on the last Who tour. So, it is the Who minus Pete and Zak then?

John Corey, the Who touring band keyboard player notable for playing on Love Reign O'er Me is not a member of Roger's band.

"How Many Friends" - at last!! Sounds so good. *faints*

Why don't they play more of these songs during the regular Who shows? It is the touring band so it shouldn't be much of a problem, if Pete actually takes time to rehearse...

What's with the attitude, buddy? We're not talking about solo Townshend setlists, we're talking about Who setlists. Show some g-ddamn respect to yer fellow posters, instead of acting like a condescending know-it-all, you'll get along a lot better here, sport. Let me guess, yer one another one of those self-styled "experts" who think they know anything and everything about a band 'cos you've read a few books and heard a few bootlegs, right? Welcome to my ignore list.

Llease re-read the original comment regatding Pete being at fault for the lack of diversity in Who set lists.

    Maybe you need pictures, though........
