"I'm One" has been the token Pete acoustic song in the set for many years.

Well, I found it unexpected anyway... possibly because I didn't expect it... or something. Was fairly surprised at the lack of "5:15", but I dig "The Punk And The Godfather" a bit more, so it was fine. I'd probably have taken "5:15" over "Amazing Journey" personally, but I didn't design the setlist and it was a great performance of that tune anyway.
I never in a million years would have believed that song would be one of the highlights for me. I spent that whole performance thinking why can't the album version be this good?

When I saw em at the start of the "Hits 50" tour I had exactly the same feeling.

I really think, that if people continue speaking about the history of rock bands with reverence, we will look at Pino as a serious waste of time.

There was an opener, so started over an hour after the time listed on the ticket.

Ahhh! Thank you!! Don't mind the opener (well, if history is any indication I will HATE the opener), but there goes public transpo. -E

Assumedly it's not Tal Wilkenfeld anymore, but she was great.

I had a very similar experience....at Desert trip for the FIRST time ever I was like damn Eminence Front is a really amazing piece of work! Don't know why but for sure, this one just works just right for Pete and this band.

It's sped up from the studio version, the wimpy countryish lead guitar sound is beefed up, the keyboards are pushed further in the back, and the drums sound like drums. Like I said, I really enjoyed the live version, even though the only two parts of the studio version I like - the weird vocal sync error and the Ox's bass licks in the chorus - weren't present. I was really surprised that I liked it, perhaps even more than hearing "The Rock", considering how much I dislike the studio version.

On an unrelated note, before the show, I heard someone around me extolling the virtues of drum machines and saying how you don't need a drummer. Before a Who show. There are no words.

It's hard to believe they just did 60+ US dates for the 50th anniversary and there's still this kind of demand... I thought prices would come down for sure, but they're still at $280 with fees on Ticketmaster.
