Pleased with the inclusion and the sound of Let's See Action, Join Together, and The Relay on the set.

Primarily interested in the non-LP stuff and how it compares to the tracks on the RARITIES 1 & 2 CD (the CD that begins with Circles and ends with Baby Don't You Do it). Anyone with both?

Part 2..........on a "greatest hits" comp!?!?!

Must be one helluva set! And yes, it is! I have a ton of new music to listen to....and I keep playing this. Just great discs that turn my system into a near perfect sounding Who jukebox. :righton:

I wished they had included Under My Thumb just to have those 2 Stones' songs together. But overall I've been playing this a lot and enjoying it very much.

I'm loving the sound of these discs. Here's hoping the new similarly great HD and iTunes masterings will be available on CD next year. In the meantime, at least a few downloads are almost a certainty.

just my opinion but the band should have tried a better approach. release 3 cd's with 50 songs plus the 1 new track and try to get at least 1 song from every release. this is what i would have done and i know you can't please everyone. fill it whatever version you want, single mix, album version, whatever, of the ones i didn't put anything next to

yeah i like those songs but its so tough to get just 50 tunes and i wanted to try and get a nice overview of the bands entire career which means leaving some stuff off. you could certainly drop the live covers other than "summertime blues" and add the 2 songs you mentioned. i really think the band should have had "dig" on this collection no matter what as it was the last original tune recorded by the who as a trio

Pretty cool list. I agree with you on having 3 CD's. I put together one just to play in the car and I think mine ended up at 60 songs, at about 78 minutes per disc.

Back to the actual compilation...I've been playing it for about a week now and, apart from a bizarre song choice here and there, it's pretty damn good.

I must admit that I prefer the song selection on the Ultimate Collection more than this set...but this one sounds better. To my ears anyway. And I'm happy to have the long version of "Magic Bus" at long last on CD...but not the edited "Won't Get Fooled Again". I've never been able to get into the short version.

On the down side, the booklet is not much to write home about...unless you were writing home to say how crappy the booklet is, I suppose.

    All in all...it'll do nicely.

Until the next compilation comes along!

I am assuming the mono tracks here are the best quality available from that time, i don't really think they are that good fidelty wise compared to other mono stuff from that time. Are these the best quality versions of those singles do you all think.

It depends on the song. There isn't a single release that sounds best for every song and uses all the right versions.

One comment about "Eminence Front": after only hearing the song from listening to the Ultimate Collection for years, Entwistle bass playing really shines through on this new remaster.
