I disagree. The 1982 Toronto video shows just how tired the band sounded. Compare the last 1981 gig (Essen) with anything from 1982 and they sound like two different bands.

I agree the led Zeppelin fantasies is by someone who never saw them live! You can tell with the false descriptors the guy is putting out there. It's all B.S.!

    Tired?

I don't see that they were "tired"; maybe it's time to buy myself a glasses and some ear helper, lol.

Even though I never saw the original band, the bootlegs I've seen and heard are outstanding. Elaborate yet raw, bombastic yet stripped down. And Moon? Many future drummers had special effects, but Moon was a special effect.

marmil It's such a long story...

Maybe, but I like to think that it was because no one left the Garden that night and the band didn't want a riot on their hands,

I think the ultimate 'Lemme Out of Here' from Pete was the Shea Stadium show. He sounds good, but acts as if he is waiting for his colonoscopy to start.

A great live version of Eminence Front, with magnificent Pete's singing.

What about this live version of Dangerous the song writen by JAE from It's Hard the album?

I think it's great Hard Rock song from It's Hard - of which I think that actually contains nicely composed songs but that those songs were destroyed on the LP by wrongly chosen kind of production and very stupid artwork - and that's great version of the song on Toronto '82.

I'm quite sure that you'll like this amazing live version of Cry If You Want - the best song on It's Hard, isn't? - from San Diego '82.

I won't, no. There's only one recording I've heard (Oakland Coliseum) from '82 that even remotely generates any interest in the 1982 version of the band for me.

Pete didn't WANT to be there. He (they) SHOULDN'T have been there...........

In this groundbreaking live version of John Entwistle's The Quiet One from Toronto '82 VHS, one can enjoy very much in JAE's talent but also to see how Kenny Jones was awfully underrated The Who drummer; actually, he was great in the rhythm section with JAE.

p.s. I really don't have intention to advocate Toronto '82 VHS, though it must be say that it was / is underrated stuff among The Who fans.

I really dislike the band's 'look' in this era. Townshend's looks like he's half-heartedly trying to accommodate the New Romantic era.

Yeah, Pete was hanging around with the likes of Steve Strange in this era & comes off looking a tad desperate unfortunately

Out of all the concerts I've seen down through the years (decades, actually), and that number would be well north of 200, I feel very fortunate to have seen The Who in 1975, while Moon was still alive. The amount of energy they had onstage was unparalleled. Pete even smashed an amp at the end of the show.

Nobody....not the Stones, not the Clash.....nobody has come close to that energy and intensity that night.

After seeing Townshend in this video. NOW I see where Keith Richard got his hair style with the bandanna.

To put Eric Clapton to play after this spectacle, even today after twenty one years, it seems to me to be an inexplicable decision of the organizer.

I can't believe that so many years have passed.
It was second time that I saw The Who; for the first time I saw them at old Wembley, in 1979, and I recall that it was a hot ticket. After Hyde Park 1996, I saw The Who once again at the stage, in Sankt Polten, Austria, exactly ten years later (sadly, they already have become "The Two"), and I think that Sankt Polten was actually the southernmost point of continental Europe where the band ever played, as The Who never played in Madrid, Rome, Athens ...

I had the sad experience of seeing Pete and Rog front The Who on their "Quadrophenia" tour of 2014 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.

I went with my son and his friend. We were sat down the back, surrounded by people who merely wanted to get pissed, have a bit of a sing-song, and get the bus home. Or drink more alcohol. Whichever.

The concert was truly forgettable. Was it really them on the stage? Maybe I was expecting too much? I have The Who on this...pedastal. I believe in the concept of "Lifehouse" and its' effects on the audience when the vibes are right. This wasn't one of those times. I just wanted to go home and cry. And just when things couldn't get any worse, at the end, the big video screen behind the stage proclaimed, in large letters, "ROCK ON LIVERPOOL."

I didn't listen to another Who record for weeks. When Rock becomes merely entertainment, it isn't really worth it anymore. But I got over it...eventually.

Blame the drugs, and his hairstylist. At least he was on the cutting edge of cellular technology.

Like any other major act, the Who's performance level was always variable. At their best, I'm sure they were astounding, but that was a long time ago.

Apparently, they still have their 'on' nights but they are fewer and further between these days. I have no interest in seeing Daltrey and Townshend.
