  1. This is interesting. There is a vinyl EP called Ready Steady Who 4:

    Tracklist
    A1 Substitute
    A2 Pictures Of Lily
    A3 So Sad About Us
    B1 Boris The Spider
    B2 Happy Jack
    B3 I'm A Boy

Record Store Day release; recorded live at the Memorial Hall, Dallas July 23rd 1967 supporting Hermans Hermits. It's the only performance to surface from this 1967 US tour thus far.

Has anybody listened to this? I wonder if it's any good?

  3. I suspect it's not a bootleg. The website is http://www.1960s.london and has vinyl, EPs and CD boxsets etc. Looks legit.

marmil It's such a long story...

It is a bootleg. The label does only boots but they're well done. I have the other 2 RSW EPs that they did, plus a Pretty Things EP & and an Easybeats EP. On LP I've got Jeff Beck 1967 broadcasts, an LP of the 1965 Tamla/Motown European tour and a few others. The sound quality on all of them is excellent and the packaging is 1st rate. The only reason that I don't have the new RSW EP is that I'm looking for a few other titles on that label to show up in a store in the UK where the shipping to the US is not equal to a month's rent.

So how's the 2018 box coming along? News? :D

  6. The label seems to be focusing mainly on archival recordings. I'm curious. Does anyone have an assessment of The Who tracks from Dallas?

  8. The audio for the YouTube video of the Dallas set is pretty awful. Where's the cleaned up version?

It’s an audience recorded bootleg, formerly appearing on a bootleg cd called ‘Cry Blue Murder’. Considering it’s from 1967, the sound quality isn’t that bad if you’re used to listening to old live audience recordings, but certainly don’t expect anything of professional sounding quality on this new bootleg vinyl ep.

Anyone know if the BBC session recording of Pictures Of Lily has ever appeared unedited with full beginning instead of faded up at the start of the vocals, maybe on a BBC transcription disc?

Edited version as on the official BBC Sessions and the Maximum BBC bootleg

This turned into an interesting Who general purpose discussion thread. Why close it now? I think a thread should only be locked if it violates forum rules.
