The most interesting part of AV to me are Howe's fills throughout and Bruford's drumming during the outtro. The lyrics make more sense than most Anderson compositions, which is a plus. Decent song but overall pretty mediocre by Yes standards.

A Venture is a very good track, but on an album this strong, it comes in last. That just shows how great an album it is. Drop A Venture on something like Tormato, and you'd have an instant classic track!

Agreed! Except that Bill has recorded drum solos - check out Perpetual Change on Yessongs, as well as Indiscipline with KC and Drum Also Waltzes on one of the Moraz-Bruford albums (which I saw him do live as well). There are probably more!

I am not terribly familiar with King Crimson's catalogue outside of the first record, but I stand corrected on Yessongs

Lark’s Tongues in Aspic and Red are two of my favorite albums ever.

It's funny, I like some of the first one (Court), but love everything they've done since.

You know a ton for a guy your age. Check out Larks Tongue and Discipline to get a good handle on the other eras. You can explore the rest at your leisure.

Ah, see, I still really like the first one. Honestly, it’s hard to go wrong with KC.

That's why it's funny. As in odd.
    Court
is a lot of Crim fans' favorite. I find the mellotron (or whatever) and the 'AAAAAH...AAAAAH....AAAAAH's a bit tedious. Couple of good songs though. Poseidon fixed the problems for me. :agree:

I'll probably get schiit for this lol, but I only like Larks Tongues in Aspic, Starless and Bible Black and Red. The other eras don't do much for me. As a fellow Yes fan, I'd recommend at least checking those three out...

Not trying to start things up; merely poking a lil fun at "Yesfans." Which I feel OK about, since I am one. Sorry if I came off as agitating; certainly don't want to derail this awesome thread.

I think AV would have been totally out of place on Tormato, but I think your point is really that it's a better track than anything on there? Can't compete w/ Silent Wings imo, but that's really apples and oranges...

I'm more out there than you- I think it holds its own w/ every track on the album. This, CttE and Tales are pretty much perfect albums imo. Every song on these albums are stellar and fit together holistically to make the albums greater than the sum of its parts- which says a lot, given the excellence of the individual parts. (The same can be said of the band)

That is so cool; had no idea you were so young. Always love meeting young Yesfans (or any young folks who like old-fart music, aka classic rock era). :edthumbs:
