I am trying to track down some Neil Diamond jingles he recorded for Coca-Cola back in the '60s. I already have the common ones available through YouTube and the ones found on a couple of Coke compilation albums. But, on an Ellie Greenwich site, there is a claim that she produced 10 Neil Diamond jingles for Coke. And, there is a Things Go Better With Coke advertising tape box that lists 5 versions of the Coca-Cola jingles INCLUDING two 90 second jingles:

Any help or information about these Coca-Cola jingles would be greatly appreciated. The interesting thing is that the tape box says that each jingle is unique. And, I wonder if those 10 tracks produced by Ellie Greenwich are part of these 5 found on the tape?

Do you have these particular jingles? I am desperately attempting to find these, especially the 90 second versions and other TGBWC jingles (I am looking for all the Guess Who ones, too). To date, I have collected and shared more than 400 Things Go Better With Coke jingles. Please PM or email me.

    Thanks,

    Brad

Don't know anything about the Neil Diamond jingles, but here's something else...maybe...

Yes (or just Jon Anderson?) possibly did a Coke jingle in the late 60s, but apparently there's some confusion about that fact: http://www.yesfans.com/showthread.php?p=1031430

Of course the link there to the sound file is long expired. I heard this one many years ago but to be honest I can't remember much about it except that it was very hard to even make it out because it was probably a 100th generation tape.

Okay, so now I have to track down this Yes Coca-Cola commercial. I have not been able to track down the jingle or the boots "Mood for an afternoon", disc 2). Does anyone have this Coke ad by Yes?

    Thanks,

    Brad

There are two old threads in the Music Forum about Coke ads, including one about the Young Rascals... a name I didn't see in your lists.

Those lists are just the jingles that I have. I'll keep my eyes and ears open for a Young Rascals ad.

    Thanks!

As far as I can tell, the Young Rascals were signed up to do an ad for the campaign, but it never happened. I've never heard it or seen a record or met anyone who has. The info I have is from a Billboard article about the campaign, from either 65 or 66.

Do you have that reel of tape you have pictured? Do you have something to play it on? If not, I have an Otari MX 5050 B II and a Tascam CD-RW 750 which can do your job on transferring it. PM me if you wish to discuss further. I'm at your service if desired.

Hi, thanks....no, I don't have the tape. I found this on a site that showed old eBay auction items. I appreciate the offer.

Although, I still haven't found the Yes Coca-Cola jingle, apparently, it is for "It's The Real Thing." If this is the case, then it would most likely not be from 1969. HOWEVER, I am still very much interested in this if anyone is able to PM me about it.

    Cheers and thanks,

    Brad

Hi Brad- Though I don't think I have a copy of this one anymore, I'll poke around and see what I can come up with...maybe I can locate someone who has it.

Hi! That would be so great. I've joined a few Yes forums, but so far, nothing. I really appreciate your effort and time.

Still hoping that someone on this forum will contact me about the Neil Diamond jingles and this Coke jingle done by Yes or Jon Anderson or any other jingle that I am probably missing.

    Thanks,

    Brad

Hi, Okay...I have found that Coke jingle by Yes or Jon Anderson. Problem is, it really doesn't sound like Jon Anderson to me. That distinctive voice just isn't there. However, my knowledge of Jon Anderson and Yes is almost zero. And, I don't feel qualified to rush to a decision on the identitiy of the singer/band.

The quality of the jingle suffers from being multi-generational and obviously mp3 sourced and resourced.

This jingle is supposedly from 1970ish. It is a variation of It's The Real Thing.

If you think you can help identify this artist/band, could you please PM me ?

    Thanks,

    Brad

Here are the lyrics to this unknown Coke jingle, as I have transcribed them:

Hey look at you looking at the sunrise.
There's such a brighter look in your eyes.
Now that I know...look up at the moon exploring.
You're reaching out and wanting life's good things.
Now that you're seeing all things grow.
There is more loving you than anyone I know.
You're taking time for friends and simple talkin'.
Sipping Coke and enjoying life's good things.
    Coca-Cola, it's the real thing. Coca-Cola...

Any help from anyone here in identifying the singer of this 1969-70s jingle would be greatly appreciated. PM me for details.

    Thanks,

    Brad

In a response to my original request, I have now found one of the longer (85 sec) Neil Diamond jingles from a radio show. As a bonus, I got a longer Ray Charles one, too. The 85 second jingle is a Diamond in the rough (sorry, couldn't resist), because it has some talkover at the beginning and end that doesn't relate to the jingle or Coke. So, I'm still trying to mine these Diamonds, I guess.

And, now back to the mystery Coke jingle discussion...

    Cheers,

    Brad

I have a 45 that may or may not be included in your list above: it's by the New Seekers (you have only the Seekers listed above). The A-side is "Buy the World a Coke" b/w "Little Bit of Sunshine" and "It's the Real Thing". It's on the Coca-Cola label, no number.

    Hi Tony,

I really appreciate you sharing this info. Those New Seekers tracks aren't included in my 400 or so tracks lists, as they are part of the "It's The Real Thing" campaign and they are on that list (I haven't published my list, here, yet).

I started this thread looking for Neil Diamond "Things go Better With Coke" jingles and have found one today and I have also located a mystery "It's The Real Thing" track (thanks to a SH member for the letting me know about this jingle) that I'm trying to identify. This thread sort of has two different themes running through it. I hope nobody minds.

However, I am also seeking any "Things Go Better With Coke" jingles not found on my lists. Anyone with any details to share, can PM me. I will gladly reciprocate 400 times over.

    Cheers and thanks,

    Brad

    Hi,

I was wondering if the voice on that It's The Real Thing jingle might be David Gates from Bread? Again, I'm really not sure about Gates. I'm also thinking Stephen Bishop.

I still have people saying it could be Jon Anderson.

PM me if you are interested.

    Brad

    Hi,

I'm not ruling out that it isn't Jon. I am the first to admit that I am not really that familiar with Jon or Yes. I hope it is Jon. Then, I can move on to other jingles that I have that I can't identify or ones that I suspect are misidentified on a CD or two that I have.

I really appreciate the open dialogue and don't want to alienate or disrespect anyone. I encourage those interested in receiving further information about this jingle or those interested in trying to solve this mystery to PM me.

    Thanks,

    Brad
