    Blur - Parklife
Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible
David Bowie - The Man Who Sold The World
    U2 - War
    Otis Redding - Otis Blue
Neil Young - After the Gold Rush
Status Quo - Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon
Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast
    Metallica - Master of Puppets
    The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night
    Small Faces - Small Faces
    Love - Forever Changes
    Faces - A Nod's As Good As A Wink...
    ZZ Top - Tres Hombres
    The Clash - London Calling
    Blondie - Parallel Lines
The Jam - All Mod Cons
    Sparks - Kimono My House

All third albums where everything fell into place for the bands musically, or the third album was the one that broke through for the band and the album was a huge seller as well as critically acclaimed.

A lot of these acts put out great, even classic, albums before their third (Neil Young, Blur, Queen, The Clash & Metallica), but the third albums are milestones and highlights of their careers.

    Also, of course:

Although Paul’s fifth, it is Wings’ third album

Talk Talk's third, The Colour of Spring, is undoubtedly an album that fits this criteria. Each of their albums was an improvement on the last but CoS is where they started to build their own musical identity which would prove to have little in common with other music being produced during this period.

Is it any better than the previous two? I'm aware it was more successful.

My opinion is it is better even though Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne) plays on the first two albums.

Forgot about this one! The first two it seemed as if they were just finding their footing, but it really came together with A Nod.

    Thanks for the reply!

Metal Health has always been a fun listen but I've never found the first two.

They were a Japan release only and yes it is a fun listen I saw them back in the day in support for that album opening for Iron Maiden.

Well I am sure plenty will disagree, but I have always considered Led Zeppelin III a HUGE improvement over the first two. Especially over the second.

I think the Yes Album wins this category with Crime a close second.
