I know this sounds dumb and juvenile, not to mention embarrassing...

But could someone bid on this ebay item for me?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2560933939&category=1593

It closes before I leave work and I have never set up an ebay account. I've always just dealt directly with sellers. My work seems to have the reg process blocked or something. And it seems I need to register to even contact the seller.

It starts at $2.99 and has no bids yet. I'd be willing to pay someone to do this for me and I would honestly promise to buy it from the successful bidder and pay all costs (for reference, ask Michael Fremer or Tom Port).

It's one of my favourite albums and it's a sealed copy.

What is your top price you want to pay for the album? Plus $5.00 shipping, of course. All in US dollars.

I've always been afraid to post auctions here, if I was interested in the item. It's a "friendly" forum, but music is music :)

Congrats! It looks like you got your item since the winning bid ended up being the only bid.

If I remember correctly, Curly Smith, the ex-drummer from Jo Jo Gunne plays on this LP, and also on Gary's excellent "Language" EP, which features Jo Jo Gunne leader, Jay Ferguson.

It sure was. I am very indebted to Gary for doing me this wonderful favor. But then that's just like Gary isn't it? He always seemed like the kind, caring sort to me. In fact, there are a lot of wonderful people here, that's part of what makes this place so special. People who just want to see others happy by helping them acquire music.

Gary Myrick came on the scene in LA around 1980 with Gary Myrick and The Figures, who put out two power pop sort of records ( the typical sort of power pop thing that was so prevalent around that time).

Most people have never heard of Gary, but surely have heard his guitar. He played all the guitars on John Waite's "No Brakes" breakthrough album, including "Missing You". He also plays the guitars and the cool solo's on Jackson Browne's "For America" track on "Lives In The Balance".
Also formed the band Havana 3 A.M. with Paul Simonon of The Clash.

"Stand For Love" offers a variety of FM pop/rock that showcases Myrick's guitar versatility. Yes, Curly Smith is drummer and co-writer, along with fellow Jo Jo Gunne-er Jay Ferguson.

The LP arrived yesterday shipped via Expresspost. I would like to thank Gary for all his efforts and kindness in obtaining the LP for me. I hope to be able to return the favor some day.
