Same. Look like it's getting a strong push from Megaforce. Interviews in rolling stone and billboard. Strangely not available in Canada except from Amazon 3rd party sellers.
During my initial listen, Shade has automatically taken the Number 1 spot for the year so far. Mightily impressed that each song left a huge smile on my face! Gotta say, I like it more than The Chair in the Doorway and Collideoscope...
Huge comeback album from them. Shade sounds like Vivid and Time's Up in all the right ways, and its hitting at the right time given what's going on in the world socially and musically. Hope it does well, it deserves it!
Vivid, Stain, and Shade are all excellent albums. The others aren't quite as consistent, but there's good stuff to be found. Wish Vernon Reid would solo a little differently, but I like his playing in the structure of the songs quite a bit.
Don't have The Paris Concert yet. I've got the 12/19/89 CBGB and didn't realize the other CBGB was different so I guess I need that too.
GREAT BAND, everyone needs to break out their cds. No mention of DESPERATE PEOPLE in the thread, that is a rocker TYPE flies out of the gate. TIMES UP (the song) everything I hate in rock (the thrash part) everything I love in rock (when its not thrashy) A friend of a friend of a friend told me, - BI killer song as is most of stain
In a lot of ways I like Times Up better than Vivid mostly because you can't really categorize it. That's one of the things I love about Living Colour.
Met someone today who worked in record industry that drove them around one day in early 90s while in town on tour and said they were awesome guys.
I put on Shade at work yesterday and couldn’t stop jamming to it. Really great album; the band hasn’t slipped a bit. Very diverse batch of songs that kept me interested until the end. If you like these guys style, you will find a lot to like in the new record. Highly recommended!
It looks like it missed the charts, shame as it's a good record. One band I wish would have a comeback.
Just saw these guys again on the opening night of their US Tour. I've only seen them 3 times over the last 20 years or so, but I think it's the best show I've seen them do. Set was a little heavy on Vivid for my liking (And they still missed Open Letter To A Landlord) but I was treated to a great version of Elvis Is Dead and sweet solos from Wil and Doug. Got to experience Should I Stay Or Should I Go for the first time as well. Of course, Vernon and Corey were pretty much monsters the entire night too. I'm so glad they're still doing this.
Pulled Vivid out last night and was reminded of its greatness. Then came across Shade and Inner City Blues and was happy to hear these guys still have the goods!
