I think this is a good point. After so many so/so or worse Sinatra releases, these seem to be done right. It seems like some actual thought went into these releases. I'm still very interested in how they compare to previous versions, but it could easily have been a major trainwreck. Here's hoping it continues with the rest of the LPs.

Just received my SACD copy of 'Where Are You' here in the UK today, so far I've played it three times and I'm totally amazed at the sound quality it sounds so fresh and full of life with great dynamics and clarity and it's difficult to believe that this mono tape is 56 years old and sounds like it was made yesterday if all the others sound as good as this then it's going to be a fantastic year, I've noticed one curious point although it's not a problem but you can hear the blank leader tape kicking in at the end of each track normally mastering engineers fade out the end bumps as the leader kicks in but I guess for the purposes of authenticity they left the original tape intact as it was on first release which is rather comforting.

    I've replied over yonder: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threa...are-you-1957-album.205245/page-7#post-8528830

EDIT: Also in that thread are head-to-head comparisons of the MFSL Hybrid SACD vs. MFSL mono LP. See: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threa...are-you-1957-album.205245/page-7#post-8530706

Received my SACD copy yesterday. I only had to wait one week- quite fast. Now I'm waiting for the next two SACDs. Hope they'll appear there soon (for a decent price again- I paid 23,-€ incl. shipping to Germany)

Just got the Where Are You? SACD and am now listening to the CD layer (don't have an SACD player). Wonderful sound, this disc is highly recommended!

No One Cares and Sinatra's Swingin' Session!!! showed up on my doorstep yesterday from Music Direct. The invoice indicated I was charged $7.00 for shipping (Where Are You? was $9.99). Since I used a 10% off coupon code when I placed my order for all three titles, most of the discount was offset by the unexpected extra shipping charge.

I haven't had time to listen to the two that just arrived, but I'm assuming the sound will be comparable to Where Are You?, which was very, very nice. Not sure I'll be ordering the remaining titles from MD unless they change their policy on shipping charges. It's ridiculous that you can't rely on what you're charged at checkout to be an accurate reflection of shipping costs.

Oh, and I wound up with matching numbers on the two newer discs - 197.

Listening to the SACD WHERE ARE YOU tonight on my HT system.
This thing is gorgeous! First of all I prefer the sound of Frank's voice on this mono mix. It sounds like he is there in the room with you. The stereo version sounds cold in comparison.
This may be the best MOFI disc I have heard, and I've heard a lot of them!
Such detail and a huge soundstage (and in mono!) great depth. What a whopper of a recording.
I can't wait for the next two!!!!

Complaints probably belong in the split thread, but the snowstorm may have had something to do with that. Mine were ordered in early October; just arrived last evening. Patience! :)

Note that they chopped off the last paragraph of the original LP liner notes.

Frank Sinatra is when real men made real music. No zombie makeup or goth outfits to distract everyone from their bad musicianship.

And no Auto-Tunes and no lip syncs. Just the pure power of voice and a genuine ability to actually sing.

Interesting that the spines on the SACDs are black and the LPs are white.
