Just for the heck of it, since my 3-D TV has a "simulated 3-D" setting, I thought I'd try the two 3-D shorts out, playing the 2-D version and setting the TV to do the simulated 3-D. What I've discovered is that this technique actually looks better than using the included anaglyph lenses with the actual 3-D shorts.

So really, I can make any Stooge short or DVD/Blu-ray into simulated 3-D. It's not perfect, but if you're looking for the effect, it works pretty well. Better than you'd expect. (Sony KDL-60R550A TV).

Only thing is that the two are edited differently, with the 3D gimmick shots cut in the 2D version.

I'm gonna have to watch them again, because I saw both on TV for many years, and all the visual gags were extremely exaggerated. Moe shoving two fingers directly into the camera, etc. I wonder if they re-edited those shorts for DVD. I don't think I've ever watched the 2-D versions all the way through from that DVD.

I just watched these this weekend. The visual gags are people throwing or pointing things into the camera (one of them being Moe's fingers). The most effective one that I can remember is someone throwing a bucket of water into the camera. There was also one with a spear that was OK.

one thing about Mill Creek...their stuff stays in print for a long time...and most likely this release will average around 5 dollars.:)
    excellent bargain.

I'll be curious to hear how those Mill Creek discs look. They sell for less because they tend to cram more content onto each disc,
often resulting in sub-par or pixellated picture quality...the equivalent of the old LP-speed Goodtimes Home Video tapes of the 80s.

I've long wanted Columbia to repackage all of the Stooges feature films in one set for a better price, and it looks like this is what
I was hoping for, but a disappointment if they wind up looking blocky on my big TV.

    Eagerly awaiting a report!

From the threestooges.net forum, I thought this may be of interest to you, it has a screen capture from Time Out For Rhythm from the MOD and the Mill Creek disc:

Got mine starting back in 2008. Only wanted the Curly shorts, and am still very happy with the high quality of these DVDFs.
