I choose to drink heavily on New Year's, so I stay home and listen to cd's only. I have found that like driving, drinking and high-end vinyl playback do not mix!!

    Stay safe everyone!

....And a very happy, healthy new year to all my forum friends from Togoland!

I'm attending a small family celebration this evening - although I'll be very surprised if my youngest (only 5) lasts until midnight!

    :)

I'll be out with my fiancee and some friends. None of us drink, but we will be careful on the roads. All of you please be careful too.

Happy New Year to everyone, and may 2003 bring you all loads of great music and happiness. Wait, isn't that redundant? :D

  12. I'd like to wish you all a Merry New Year and crimble too! :)

Tonight a friend and are attending, what is being billed as "the largest New Year's Eve party ever, in Calgary". It's called "The Big Big Bash". The event is being held at the small upscale yuppie mall, Eau Claire Market in a trendy little area in the north section of downtown Calgary, just south of the Bow River and the lovely Prince's Island Park. The event will house 14 venues at various restaurants and in the mall, two just outside the mall, Barley Mill Restaurant (and pub), Brewsters Brewing Co & Restaurant, and in the mall itself.

For example, the food court will be one of several designated, licensed drinking areas. All of the second floor will be licensed with a couple of house DJs spinning tunes. There will be somewhere in the vicinity of 11 to 14 bands, depending on what literature I read, playing in the different restaurants, pubs and designated areas, including blues bands, rock, alternative, and I think even country. At or near the top of the bill is long running Calgary band, Plaid Tongued Devils, a group who combine Eastern European gypsy music with ska and rock. :)

Also the IMAX movie theatre in the mall will be showing The Rolling Stones At The IMAX at 7 and 9PM, which is included in the price of admission, if you wish to see it. We have tickets for the 7PM show. It's been about 10 years, since I last saw the IMAX film.

At last count over 3000 tickets had been sold. The event is set up for 5000. There will be lots of room to move around, and plenty of things to do. If you get bored in one place, you can move to the next.

I am the designated driver, as I rarely drink. After the Stones movies I may have one beer or a glass of red wine. Then it's juice or bottled water for the rest of the evening. Maybe a small glass of bubbly at midnight.

I hope you all have rockin' (and safe) New Years Eve too!

Yes, Happy New Year to everyone. I hope this year was good to you, and that you're feeling excited for the future. Be strong, and make sure you know when you've had enough to drink.

I'd personally want to stay home than drive at night. Too many weird ones driving to make it worth it to drive home sober.

    Enjoy!

Happy New Year Steve and All!

    Steve,

Any particular New Year Resolutions for 2003?

I'll throw the same question out to all board members, too.

Mine, music-wise, are to finally get a high-end system (well, as high-end as I can afford); and to organize all my LPs and CDs. Oh yeah, to acquire more DCC and MFSL product too! That's an easy one.

    Happy New year!

I will be drinking, but my wife doesn't, so she will act as the designated driver. We're going to visit her parents in hospice--her brother plays viola in the NY Philharmonic, so we'll probably watch/tape their concert on PBS--then go grab a bite somewhere, head home, and watch the city fireworks from our balcony.

    Life is good!

Happy New Years! May the new year bring you all many new Hoffman remastered discs.

I will be celebrating New Years in my usual way......watching the sell by dates expire on the roasts at my local supermarket so I can pick them up at half price.
