July's Record Collector reports that Sony/Legacy in the U.S. are to release remastered versions of "Teaser" and "Private Eyes" later in the year, augmented by bonus tracks and remixes. This is the first I've read about this, and there's no news on the Bolin archives webpage about it. Has anyone got any further info at present? Bluebird
I heard rumours of this last year. Hopefully they are going to do it now. These releases need to be remixed. They are mixed so oddly.
Teaser in particular is a legendary album, IMO. I remember first hearing it on the radio back in the mid-70s - Jan Hammer was in Australia, and was interviewed about his music career. He gave a really heartfelt and warm tribute to Tommy Bolin, and talked in depth about the recording. I just like the way the Jan Hammer contribution fits in with Bolin's music - there are obviously more fusion elements here and there, especially on "Marching Powder", but Jan Hammer never passed up an opportunity to play pretty hard rock.
I am looking forward to these remixes as well. I really like Tommy. I have a lot of the archive releases as well. Maybe Sony will release this in SACD as well?!
Last I heard...today Norm is spending quality time with his loved ones. I also hear he has to report for duty tomorrow which means he'll be in "posting" mode. BC
Great News For Sure. I really like the Teaser Album. I currently have the Import which does not compare to my vinyl copy. I saw Tommy with the James Gang back in 1974 nad have been a fan since . The Bang and Miami albums are some great work from his James Gang years, and of course the collaboration with Billy Cobham and Jan Hammer on the Spectrum album is brilliant work as well.
I saw him at the Ford Auditorium in Detroit about 6 weeks before he died. Unfortunately, he was completely junked out and it made for a disappointing way to remember him. Cheers, Chris
Norm had a rough week boys. Still good news on the Tommy Bolin re-releases. Hope everyone is well Best Norm
