I think I can count `Cosmo`s Factory` into the final vote @DK Pete.

CONGRATULATION`S, our first err? voice of dissent? only 6-7 posts in. I will be ignoring any other similar posts but I am happy to say these posts are outnumbered about 50-1.

To those others who are pointing out about similar threads, I couldn`t find them and I spent a few hours trying, that you have, well done. However they were held quite a while ago and given that around 90 people have voted in the first 14 hours I think you have your answer. The fact is I love to compile these polls, it is also myself who will collate all the votes so PLEASE don`t waste your time doing what I term `moanin` `n` groanin`.

I did intend to blend the selections of the other `Your best 5/10 albums` threads, obtaining the OPs I could contact permissions* but I want the poll to represent the opinions of voters NOW. In fact I may run a poll every 2 years! Hur hur, that should ruffle a few feathers!

    *Thanks guys.

I am hoping that by giving each voter the choice of up to twenty votes that `outside act`s` albums will come into play. Being this Steve Hoffman site of course The Beatles will figure heavily, but I think there may be some surprises. Thanks to those who have voted so far and to those who intend to vote.

Great calls on E.H.'s Wrecking Ball and M.C.C.'s Come On Come On. I was posting Come On Come On, yet couldn't bring myself to include it and not Stones In The Road. Since I didn't have enough slots left, I had to make the tough cut. Glad the album got mentioned....

Nice to see Moondog get a shout out! The only other band (I can think of) also doing madrigal style vocal arrangements was Gentle Giant. I wonder if they were influenced by Moondog 2 or some of his albums from the 50's.

Yeah, I definitely hear echoes of Moondog 2 in Gentle Giant's intricate vocal work. Direct influence is definitely possible, and it's worth noting that Gentle Giant and Moondog were both signed to/distributed by Columbia in the US at the time. But I guess they could just have easily been looking back to renaissance or baroque-era choral music. Steve Reich's Tehillim (also on my list) similarly has multiple voices singing in canon, but obviously that's not a "band" in the way Gentle Giant was.

Hey, thanks! Biggest gripe is I couldn't find anywhere to fit Dylan and Revolver :p
Come to think of it, I probably should've swapped out Traffic for that, but what's done is done haha.
