Just pre-ordered my copy from Amazon.com....
    Street date is December 6th.

  2. Has some amazing battle scenes but not one that I found all that dramatically involving.

It was almost a Kurosawa credit. Our loss.

  4. I agree with you. It's a pity that some sort of compromise couldn't be reached to have him on board.

  5. I saw this during its theatrical run and thought it was good film and it is always good news to see another catalog Blu-ray release.

I don't think the film would have come out much better with Kurosawa on board if anything it would have made the Japanese and American scenes seem really disjointed.

Maybe, but it would have been fascinating even if a failure.

They couldn't have moved it up a day?

Could you state your case for this opinion?

His style in even his more action oriented films is the the total linear opposite of what they would have wanted him to do in this film. So you either would have had him compromise and then there is no point in having him or you would end up with something destined not to work.

Yes, I've read those reports before. My thoughts being that they wanted him for his talent and his end results but wanted to dictate how he got there. Business aside, I would have like to see what he could do if given a freehand. 30 films and no real loser among them as well as many different awards for his works. Not looking for a fight just looking for viewpoints. Thanks for the reply.
