Steve has admitted that he has hearing problems from years of studio work and concerts! Probably why he likes a loud, compressed sound.

I must have missed something. Are the remasters already out on streaming somewhere? Where are people hearing them?

The new 40 trips... greatest hits is remastered. The rest will follow later this year.

Oh, using the same mastering as 40 Trips? I think I did miss that detail..

I can only agree, bought both the LP and 96/24 files from HD Tracks. Love to be able to hear even more details from the best musicians together

I picked up a copy last night. It became fatiguing to listen to after a few songs. Shame as this is supposedly from the master tapes.

It is a shame especially as Lukather pumped up the remasters when they were first announced. Imagine how great Toto could sound if properly mastered by Audio Fidelity or MOFI. We sadly will probably never know. I was thinking of buying this just for the three new songs but after reading a few comments like yours I am definitely going to just stick with my original CDs.

How is the LP? Is it mastered like the CD and HD versions?

I bought the 24 bit version and it sounds very good. Funny thing is that the new songs , to me, don't sound as good as the remastered tracks.

    Hi,

To me it sounds good but I have no technical knowledge about the mastering. I think it has the typical warmness from the classical LP sound and the HD versions are a little more bright and detailed.

    Cheers,

    Johannes

it's 2.30 AM here, I'm listening right now, with pretty decent headphones (Grado SR225): it's a tasteful remaster
drums and bass on "Georgy Porgy", amazing!
it's a no brainer if you are a fan

I'm with you. Yes, these new remasters has brought new life into the songs I've been listening to for 30 years. The songs off the first album especially sound amazing, and Lea off Fahrenheit. Can't wait for full albums.

I grew up listening to their mid-80 albums, I would love to have them in improved sound!

  16. Then buy 40 trips. I’m enjoying the improved sound on this hits disc immensely. And if this is indicative of the sound on all of the slated albums, I’m in for all of em’!

Also, I'm hoping for an improved packaging on the individual albums (more photos, notes), maybe the occasional bonus track, longer codas, alternative versions...

Meh, I can settle with a stand alone blu ray, hope that option will be available. Yes I’m mostly interested in the 5.1 mix.

That’s a crazy expensive price for this box set. I’m a big fan but I don’t know.

Same here, Toto is one of my all time favorite bands but after hearing 40 Trips Around The Sun, I will be more than happy with the remasters and do not need the vinyl. No way I can justify spending $500 on this.

Wanna do a reasonably-priced CD-only version? I'm "all in." Otherwise? All out.

I would prefer the CD-only release. I guess that will be after the vinyl is shipped?

Man, that is disappointing. Only ten unreleased tracks?

Not the 1992 Jeff Porcaro KoD concert? Not the fully Tokyo Hydra concert?
And the Paris concert will probably still be the same truncated version.

    Moodido, Past to Present tracks...?

You'll probably get the Old Is New cd only with the limited version. Meaning I'll be going to Illegal Download Inc.
